Has anyone stayed at DTD hotels with kids WITHOUT a car?

If so, how did it go? Did you use DTD bus transportation or walk over to the Marketplace and do the transfer thing at a WDW resort? How bad or o.k. was it?

My parents and I stayed over there when I was younger and we rarely had a car. We used the DTD bus transportation to get around - no complaints.

We stayed at the Wyndham in DTD last March without a car and had no problems w/transportation. It was only about a 10 min walk along a well kept, well lighted, very safe sidewalk to DTD. Also 10-15 min. walk to off-site strip mall w/grocery store, restaurants, etc. Buses run from the hotels to the parks about every 30 mins or so. Sometimes the buses were crowded and people had to stand depending on what time of day it was. The buses drop you off at a park and tell you which spot they will be parked in (example, parking spot 26) and this is the spot you return to to catch the bus back to your hotel. If travelling with children in strollers in your party, I suggest getting to the parking spot a few mins before the bus is sched to arrive and folding your strollers. Some drivers WILL NOT WAIT while you do this. Strollers must be stored in the undercarriage of the bus. Some drivers were very nice about this and helped fold & unfold strollers and some were downright rude. We'll be staying at the Dolphin for our next trip because we ended up at Epcot every night anyway last trip and just feel it will be easier to walk back to the hotel with the strollers than to pack them up & try to catch the bus.

We stayed at the palace last spring with our two kids. It was the first trip in a non-disney hotel and our firsttrip without a car.

Honestly, it was aweful. The bus from the hotel was crowded and we felt like we spent alot of extra time hopping busses from DTD to reosrts and switching to parks.

We wont ever stay off-disney again. if you do, rent a car.
