I know this can be a pet peeve of some.. but has ANYONE started decorating for Christmas yet?

I know dept stores have... but anyone decorating at home?

I ask because last Christmas DH and I were packing up and in the process of moving since we were building a home. This is our first year in the house... so now its been 2 years since we have had a tree up or any Christmas decor. Im starting to feel the itch to get mine up. If nothing else, than to see what I need to get for this year. We went from 1,500 sq feet to 4,000. I have SO MUCH STUFF and Im excited about the new placement and having a tree up this year (since we unfortunately had to miss out on it last year).

So as I asked before, has anyone started decorating for Christmas?

No - not until after Thanksgiving. I will listen to Christmas music now though.

I've started buying some new decorations and gifts but I won't decorate till after Thanksgiving.

I haven't yet but I plan to "deck the halls" :santa: next Monday and Tuesday. I haven't shared that info with DH yet. He thinks we shouldn't listen to Christmas music until Christmas Eve. Won't he be surprised to come home from work with a decorated house??!!!!!:thumbsup2

I suggested to DD's DH that he get the outside Christmas lights up this week while we're having this short warm-up..

As for your "itch" - it's your house! If you want to decorate; put up the tree; whatever, go for it..:thumbsup2 Who cares what anyone else thinks? :goodvibes

I don't decorate until the day after Thanksgiving. I did buy some new decorations though.

I haven't decorated yet, but I have no problem with people starting to decorate now. Christmas is NEXT month, after all. I wouldn't turn on the lights yet..but certainly get them ready to go!

No decorations but I have 99% of my gifts wrapped.:thumbsup2 I wrap them as the delivery guy brings them.

As a matter of fact I just got the den rearranged so we can put up the tree tonight!!!! Then we'll decorate most of this week! I will say we have a 1 year old who is just amazed at the trees and decorations in the stores so I just couldn't wait any longer!

It is going to take some time for me to decorate, since I have a 15 month old at home, so I am starting ot get little things out everyday and putting them up. If I wait until after Thanksgiving, it wouldnt be up until Christmas day! Nothing outside though - just stuff inside right now.

Not until Thanksgiving break. Then we'll trim the tree and deck the halls! :)

I really, really dislike rushing the seasons and want to enjoy our fall weather this month. We still have leaves to rake and I have a Thanksgiving meal to plan. After the dishes are put away, THEN we will get our tree and put up decorations!
But I understand your excitment Maggimus, being in a big brand new home. Go ahead and take out your decorations early, and enjoy! :)

I will listen to holiday music before Thanksgiving but that is it. I have to wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate. I haven't decorated at all for the last 2 years however. My DD's best friend found her brother dead 3 days before Christmas 2 years ago right after we got back from Disney so we were all a little out of the holiday spirit. Last year she moved out right before the holidays so I wasn't really in the mood again. I may not this year either because we are remodeling my house and don't know if we will have the house together in time. I do love driving around looking at them though.

I wait till after Thanksgiving. But since you did not get to do any decorating last year I say go for it Maggie

I usually wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving. We'll be leaving for WDW on Nov 21st and not returning until late Saturday night after Thanksgiving. That Sunday we'll be busy with laundry and buying our Christmas tree. Because of that, I plan on decorating the inside of the house next weekend. I'll save the outside for after our trip.

Thanks Kellie!

Thanks Everyone!! I love reading the responses. Im usually pretty traditional and decorate after Thanksgiving Dinner is cleaned up on Thanksgiving... but I don't think I can hold off.

I wont be turning anything ON before atleast Thanksgiving... maybe just setting it up;)

I dug all my 2000 tubs (or what seems like) out from the area we store them in, and I have a lot. DH and I took a look to see what all we had (2 years, you can imagine ive forgotten most of it). Luckily 2 years ago we got some excellent deals the day after Christmas, and then we went shopping last year as well for some things. So im excited:yay:

I cant wait to see everyone elses decorations as well.

I must say though-- i dont want it to take away from our Thanksgiving. This might be our first Christmas, but its also our first Thanksgiving in our new house too... and we have a LOT to be thankful for!

Yes! I'll admit it. I put up one of my Christmas trees today. I want to have everything in place prior to Thanksgiving. I put up two trees and do a lot of other decorating, so it takes a good deal of time. No one really sees it except me, my sister and DD (when she is home) so it doesn't bother me that it is going up early. I am having a party and I must be ready!

Haven't done any decorating yet, but I did change my ring tone to "Sleigh Ride" on Nov 1st.
