Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone has seen the Mickey's PhilharMagic Show in the Magic Kingdom? I have seen a little sneak peak about it on the Disney Channel and it looked really cool!

I LOVE DISENY, Zen1

We were there for halloween, it was great. Our 6yr old who is not big on the 3-d shows thinks it is the best show at WDW

Zen- Just got back from the airport after 2 weeks in the world and am trying to relax & fall asleep. I will post reviews later but as no one has replied or welcomed you allow me -- Welcome!! I saw Mickey's Philharmagic and it was wonderful we saw it 3x. My Dh & I loved it , my 3 yr old howled with laughter and kept trying to grab the 3d images.

I don't know if this qualifies as a spoiler but I Don't know why its called Mickey's Philharmagic when Donald Duck is in most of the show and Mickey a very short time but I throughly enjoyed it and it was nice to see Donald showcased. Hope this helped. Don't miss it.

Guess I'll be the dissenting vote. Here's what I posted about it on another board (this visit was taken on Oct 11 and the problems they have had *may* have been remedied since):

<snip> I did manage to get myself a Fast Pass for the new Philharmonic and went back for it. Yet another Disney disappointment on many levels.

1. The area is so jam packed with people it was hard to move. I was constantly being pushed, shoved or smacked into with strollers. No one's fault but Disney's. They can see how bad it is out there having a small walking space and a brand new attraction. Doesn't take a lot of brains to figure out it's like an accident during rush hour. To fix? Set up separation ropes (ala the parades) with arrows. One for people going towards the castle and the alleged entrance to the ride and another for people going towards PP and It's a Teeny Orb (having a CM out there directing traffic wouldn't be a bad idea, either). But, no, that would help make the problem better and we don't want to do that!

2. The entrance....just where in God's name was it? You can't see any thing for the crush of people. You try to cut across and get run over by the crowds. Can't find a CM to save your life and ask (not even at the FP area....I looked). When I finally found where the entrance was, both were blended: meaning you couldn't tell where the FP was and where the stand by was. They finally got a CM out there and she started dividing the lines up. If you were more than 10 min early for your FP, you had to wait. Here's where it really got funny: people didn't want to leave because of how difficult it was to get to that place to begin with. She finally started letting more people in because no one was leaving the area. The set up is absolutely terribly and they're going to have to do something to change it.

3. The attraction itself is a disappointment. Maybe I feel that way because I did Shrek about 3 weeks ago and it's very obvious Disney didn't see what Universal did with the same type of attraction. It could have been so much more. Unfortunately, it's nothing more than Muppet 4D (which is much funnier and more highly recommended) with a smell added and a huge cartoon advertisement for Disney. Is it cute? Sure, it is. If you have little ones, I'd recommend it but, I wouldn't wait more than 30min for it. It is Donald Duck centric so, if you're expecting lots o'Mickey Mouse, you'll be disappointed, he makes only two very short appearances. The movie touches on Beauty and the Beast (minus both central characters), Aladdin (minus the Genie which is rather amusing considering there's a poster of him in the lobby area), Little Mermaid, The Lion King and, briefly, Peter Pan. There might be one more clip, but those are the ones I remember. Like I mentioned, if I had not seen Shrek, I may have been more impressed with Phil, but having seen Shrek first, Uni has definitely beaten Disney, again, at the same game.

First Welcome to DIS.
If you love Disney you're at the right place.

Wow, after reading FirstNo post I wondered what he/she was talking about...I had none of the problems with PhilharMagic that he/she had....but timing is everything...I Loved the new 3-D movie with all the characters, and am leaving in about 48 hours to return to MK with my nephew just so he can see it....My niece said PhilharMagic was her favorite.

The location is where The Legend of the Lion King was before 2002 so the space isn't as large as the other new attractions.

:earsboy:

We had no problems and LOVED it :D ! Of course we saw it Oct 1st, one of the slowest days at MK ever! I will see how it goes when we arrive in 2 weeks during a busy time.

A must see! ::yes::

I found no problems whatsoever getting in and out of this attraction, no problem finding FP vs SB lines. The enterance is no more difficult than any of the attractions at DW. It's a great show and it's very cute. I saw it twice and I think my dh and boys saw it 3 times.

Have Fun!

We just got back two days ago and saw PhilharMagic twice. I thought the show was GREAT both times. I love that it was a conglomoration of all of the disney films. However, I can see that there will be a "line" problem during high attendance.

The first day we went we basicly just saw the entrance and walked in (it was early in the day on a Wed.) with out a problem. We waited comfortably with only about half of the waiting area filled. It was easy to figure out which door to go in and where the "lines" were.

The second day was a friday, during Jersey Week. Lots of people in fantasyland. Over hour waits for Pooh and Peter Pan. We grabed a FP before entering the Castle for lunch. When we returned we had trouble fighting through all the people to get to the FP return. People who were coming from the Castle area trying to get to Peter Pan couldn't get through. Some went around the Carosel instead. There was a line of "parked" strollers that streched from the Phill opening to the Carosel. Other strollers couldn't get through and people walking had to move in and around the strollers to get anywhere, including out of the attraction.

When we got inside we were back on the ramp with the hand rail when we got stopped by all the people. Still plenty of room for everyone in the theatre, but really no idea which doors to go into. Very Very crowed, with little to no dirrection, except that the doors will open toward you. I can see that this could get ugly in the summer.

BTW - when we entered the theatre - we had no problem getting great seats (4th row just slightly off center)

Shelly princess:

Walked right in two weeks ago -- don't recall any problem at all finding it or getting in. It was fun, sweet, interesting-- kids will love it, adults too. I wasn't bowled over, but I thought it was far better than Muppets 3D -- I can't understand that comparison.

I'd go again next trip, but I didn't feel the need to see it twice in one week. Kids with a favorite character might feel differently!

We saw it twice and had non of the expriences that was posted earlier.

We loved it.

I really wanted to see this show when we were there last week, there was a small group of us and my 5 yr old dd who can be quite squeemish about loud, intense things (she doesn't like rides).

WELL...luckily we were seated all the way toward the end of the row because 2 minutes after the show started my dd started crying hysterically!

It got so bad she panicked and I had to leave, but I had no problem leaving since we were at the end of the aisle. I felt so bad for her, but had to try it.

I was kinda bummed I missed most of it, looked pretty cool and everyone else said it was neat.

Just depends on your children. If they are ok with loud noises or intense surroundings they'll be fine. But, my dd is sensitive to everything. If you're not sure how your child will react I suggest to do this later in the day. DD didn't want to go on anything (but Small World) after that:(

Hopefully next time I'll be able to have her hang outside with my dh so I can check it out:tongue:

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the great feedback and for welcoming me into this big Disney family! It sounds like everyone really liked Mickeys PhilharMagic Show. So when I go next time to Walt Disney World I will make sure I see it!(I hope that will be soon).

I was there on Friday 11/7 too! I don't think the lines are any worse than any other Disney attraction. (The one I hated the most was at Haunted Mansion, but c'est la vie!)

I thought Mickey's Philharmagic was excellent with all kinds of surprises for the audience. (I won't spoil them here for you.) I do like how Donald figured prominently into the storyline...he's kinda been lost among the other bigger Disney stars these days. And the gift shop at MP has the most Donald merchandise too.

I've seen the Muppet 3D experience too and they're both good, both featuring different surprises.

The biggest problem I have with these shows are the people who just don't understand the instructions to move all the way down to the end of the row. They selfishly plop themselves right down in the middle so everyone else has to crawl over them. I know I stomped on a number of feet doing so and I hope I stomped 'em real good!!!!

speaking as someone who saw both Shrek 4D and Mickey's Philharmagic on her last trip to Florida...I have to say that Philharmagic is the best 3D show on DISNEY property.

Yes, I enjoyed Shrek more...but Shrek is at universal...this is a Disney board.

I sat there with my mouth hanging open at Philharmagic...I loved it. Yes I wish Genie was in it...but other than that...I thought it was great. And alot of the 'older' characters are getting some face time in there.

I definetly left the theater with a smile on my face!

I have to thoroughly agree with Stinkerbelle. My husband and I saw PhilharMagic three times while we were there (10/25-11-1) and we would have loved to have had the time to have seen it ten more times. Absolutely the best attraction Disney has added in quite a number of years. I thought everything about it was superbly done.

We also were able to enjoy the Shrek 4-D movie that week. We are both huge fans of the Shrek movie and we both loved Universal's attraction. We thought the theming was great (especially with the cast members in the waiting area) and the movie was a lot of fun.

I wouldn't say I enjoyed either movie more, they were just different experiences. For me, PhilharMagic was a magical experience (one that I would gladly repeat a hundred times) and Shrek was just plain fun.

Just want to put my 2 cents in....

I thought Philharmagic was wonderful. Saw it 3 times, never waited longer than 15 minutes. Had no problem with pushy crowds or unmarked entrances. The fast pass entrance is right up front and is clearly labeled. Ariel is my favorite part of the show. Amazing 3D effects.

Also saw Shrek 4D at Universal. Had to wait 30 minutes in an outside que area. Then corraled into the "dungeon" pre show area where I had to wait another 15 minutes with hundreds of others standing shoulder to shoulder and being a short person I was not able to see what was going on at the front of the room.(something about torturing various characters)

I admit, I have not seen the entire movie...but I did get to watch at least 30 minutes of film clips while standing on-line outside the theater. Is anyone else surprised at the bathroom humor, double entendre sexual jokes, violence, and mild profanities (synonym for donkey), especially considering the attraction is targeted to young children? I guess little children don’t “get” the adult humor. I know the cartoon is rated "PG" but having spent the previous few days at Disney, this show was quite a reality check.

The 3D effects were impressive, as was the “moving seat” technology.

We saw this show 4 times on our Halloween trip. The most we waited was 5 minutes. The entire family really liked it, including DD 3 and DD6. In fact, it was the DD 6 who insisted that we keep going back. My DD 3 does not like scary rides/shows, but she really liked this show too. It's funf for the entire family.

Hey Shellybaxter and wineaux....we were at MK on 11/7 also. Man, it was insane back there among Philharmagic and Pan. We finally got on Pan around 5:30 after getting a FP for it. But we didn't have a problem w/Haunted Mansion b/c we timed it just right. As soon as the parade was over we turned around and got in line and walked right up to it.

I agree that area of MK needs to be re-tooled. It gets way too crowded back there especially with the stroller fiasco like you said. There is no where to walk. But as far as Philharmagic goes, it was spectacular. We loved it!!! Bravo Disney!

I was very disappointed in Philharmagic. It was a big commercial for all the latest Disney movies.
