Has anyone rented a car from BWV area for just a few days?

I'm considering renting a car for a few days for myself, DD16 and her friend to possibly go to Sea World and maybe an outlet mall from the BWV area. Has anyone done this and is it worth it? In checking the rates it looks like it's almost $70.00 a day. It is the week before Easter so I'm sure costs are higher. I will look for some promo codes but I may be able to rent a whole week for the cost of 2 days

I just don't like driving that much (my DH usually does all of the driving and we rent a car but he won't be along this trip). Last year we took ME and I loved it but did feel a little trapped.

I know the teens would love to explore a little and do some shopping outside of WDW. We also love Sea World. I'm sure I could handle a few short trips out of WDW. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I think the car rental is out of the Swan/Dolphin not BWV. I know my brother & family have done it and it went very smoothly.

We have done it, and I don't remember it being THAT exensive. We do have Emerald Isle rates though.

I have two 1 day rentals reserved for our Thanksgiving stay. National had some kind of deal for a weekend day, just under $30 for a one-day rental for an intermediate, but much much higher for any extra hours or days (a second day would have been more than double).

So I have reserved a car for the Sunday before Thxgiving, and another for the Saturday following, both from the Dolphin. I figure we will use it for a grocery trip (cheaper than a cab at that point) and for Waterpark visits.

But for the rest of the time, we're happy to rely on the internal system (esp. at BWV).

We rented for one day at the Swan/Dolphin (I forget which) and it was only about $40 for 24 hours. We will do that again this trip to make a run to visit family in Tampa.

We have rented for 1 day grocery trips and it went smoothly. Just remember to top the tank off, or it will cost you dearly.

I reserved ahead of time; I've used both Alamo and National on-line to reserve. Anyone else rented on site?

In January, we used ME, and stayed at SSR. We were trying to get alot done in a little amount of time (ie park-hopping) and the bus system just wasn't cooperating with this plan, so I called National and rented a car for the rest of that trip. I know that the National/Alamo at the Wyndham Palace Hotel across from DTD and SSR does NOT stock cars, so you must have a reservation in advance to rent from there. I was able to find a car at the Car Care Center, and took the shuttle to pick it up. It was very easy.

National and Alamo are sister companies under the same parent.

I generally use national and drop the car off at the care care center, not the Dolphin/Swan complex. We drive there from Boca Raton and this year I will keep the car an extra day after we arrive at WDW to go to Universal's Margaretiville for dinner, then drop the car off. One night off property is all we need but the rates are not great in the March April timeframe. Just bite the bullet and enjoy. If I thought about cost while at Disney I'd probably have a depressing time. I leave that for the two hours I'm sitting in MCO waiting for the plane to take off back to the frigid north

It seems that the 1 way, 1 day rentals have gone up in price! We got $30 dollar a day rate in August, picking up and dropping off at the Car Care Center, but when we're looking ahead, we're also getting close to $70 a day rates!!

For December, we're renting from Enterprise, we got another close to $30 rate, they will pick us up, and drop us off. I would like the car to see ICE! and then use it for church on Sunday. We've never rented from Enterprise, but I got the tip from the Transportation Board here, they apparently do have good weekend rates, or they did when we booked. I check that board for tips.

Bobbi :)

I wasn't quite sure from the wording of your post, but it almost sounded as if you were considering letting the teens take the car off by themselves. I don't think the rental company will let them be listed as drivers.
