Has anyone put a taller kid in a rented stroller?

We have reserved a Summit X3 from Kingdom Strollers for our trip next month. I debated on getting a special needs stroller (she is 8 and has Down syndrome) but I thought she would be fine at 49" in the Summit X3 as it's only 1" over the recommended limit. Well...we just left her annual well child appointment and she has grown and is actually 51.5"! Has anyone put a child that tall in the Summit X3 or one of the other rented strollers? Maybe I should just suck it up and pay the extra money for the special needs stroller. I'd have to call and see if I can change the reservation.

Is there a Babies R Us or other store near you where you might be able to let her sit in one to try it out?
