I have read the first two books in the series and bought the movie at Sams today. My Pastor has been teaching about "the end" in Sunday School and these books seem to help me understand a little better by putting things in "real times" perspective. Has anyone else read any of these and how do you like them?

I've read them, and I have really enjoyed them all. I also think that it makes the lessons easier to understand. The books are very moving too. I can't wait for the next one!

Hi, my husband and I read them together. We have enjoyed them also. We are just finishing the latest one. If you like them, Lahaye also has a few nonfiction books about the endtimes. They are also easy to understand.

I've read them! :) I just bought the latest one, "Remnant" but haven't started it yet. I enjoy them. I found a couple of them to be a little "dry" or slow... it was almost as though they were setting some groundwork for the following book...but for the most part I've really enjoyed them. :)

My MIL started reading these and insisted that I read them. We usually don't have the same taste in books, but I am really glad I started reading them. I am almost finished with the latest book. I have really enjoyed reading them.

I have read them all, but like Kama.. Remnant is sitting on my bedside table..unread as of yet...They are an easy read and I do enjoy reading this series.

I found them to be interesting. I also found them a bit "Preachy"
I realize that they are Christian novels... with a basis but they are WORKS OF FICTION... And I take them that way.

I have to admit that the subject matter makes me think about my own life and its relationship to the second coming of Christ.

That being said.. I have been told by people in my book group that this series of books is a bunch of horse manure, they also questioned my zeal for reading these novels. I reply "to each his own"...

My DH & I have read all but the latest one too. We got a little burnt out on them for a while and we're not rushing to read this one. Taking a bit of time off from them, but we'll eventually finish.

I have just started reading the first one. Rayford has just joined the church, that's how "just started" I am. So far, so good, but it is interesting food for thought.

I've been reading them for the past few years as well and have really enjoyed them. Like MamaJoan said, there are those that don't like the interpretation on the end times that LaHaye has used (Jerry Jenkins doing the writing though), but that's just because of the differences just among Christian denominations. And, that doesn't even count in the differences among the nonChristians who read the series.:) I've been on the LeftBehind Message boards for about four years now and you get a lot of debate about the end times interpretations. (Though I do tend to agree with LaHaye's direction) However, Jerry Jenkins will be the first to tell you it IS only a fictional series. Admittedly, one he enjoys having fun with, though.:)
Have fun reading. Kim

Spoiler.....Remember only ONE of the original Trib Force members will make it to the end. Have fun guessing which one.:)

I've read them all but the last one (waiting for paperback). I wasn't sure how I would like them, but I read them all in a matter of a month. I understand they are fiction, but they do make you stop and think.

I've not read the series but am aware of the Rapture and have heard some of the Christian Radio ministers discuss the subject.

Regardless of whether the Left Behind books are "fiction" or not, the subject matter is real, in my opinion, and I have no intention of being "left behind". For non believers, well, that's another story.

DD and I started them last summer and read them all by Christmas. Got the new one when it came out. DD has read it but I haven't.

We saw the movie after reading several of the books. I never like to do that because the characters don't look the way I pictured them. And, the movie differed some from the books. If you watch the movie without reading the book, like my DH did, it is very confusing.

They also have a young adult series in paperback which DS is reading. He really likes them and he is not a big reader.

I have read them all and I am anxiously awaiting book 11 that does not come out until next summer. :(

I started reading them a few years ago and I have really enjoyed the story both for the fictional portions of the story as well as the biblical portions that really make you stop and think.

I have read them. I really liked the first couple. After that, they sometimes tend to drag them out a bit. Good series overall, though.

...just had to comment...tried to read the first one - just couldn't "get into" it! So, no, I don't like the series, having tried to read the first one.

I am glad so many of you like the books. I get so into them I usually read one in a day or two. But I have always been that way about good books!

For anyone that has a Sams Club near them you can get the hardback copies for around $8.00!!!! I looked at Walmart and they had the same ones for around $13.00!!!!!!!! I have been trying to get a new one every couple of weeks although I still need to go to Sams to get #3. I did not care for the movie all that much because it was quite different from the book and even though I like Kirk Cameron, I never pictured him being Buck!!!!

Somehow I definitely feel that I'm "doomed" to be "left behind":) ........

We have all of them but I have only read about the first five. Now some reason I got bogged down and haven't picked it back up. I did like what I read though.

I havent read the books..but ive seen some of the movies with kirk cameron in them..the ones I saw were pretty good, especially for christian movies, which tend to be pretty dull.

I love them! I don't read very many books, and these are some of the few books that I can "get into." I usually usually get so involved that i finish them in about a day...which leaves me several months to wait for the next one to come out.
