Has anyone ordered everything on the menu in the dining rooms since it's free?

I don't think ordering a little extra of something, or even a little of everything is greedy or wasteful. DCL and the servers themselves encourage it so why not enjoy? I mean, isn't the very act of taking such a luxurious vacation a little wasteful? Surely that money could be put to better use for charity or something along those lines. ;)

I'd probably be way too embarrassed to order one of everything but I do plan to order an extra entree or appetizer from time to time. I think the steak at EG would be great with a "side" of scallops and asparagus. There's also a few new things I'd like to try without forgoing my favourites. That's one of the things we love about cruising - the chance to try new things without being stuck with the bill.

Totally agree with the part's of your post I've emboldened.
Absolutely try some thing's in addition to what you know you want, but to order everything is an outrageous waste of food, just because you can. :confused3

You have worked hard for that money and taking a vacation whether it be on land at a park or resort, flying somewhere, or on a cruise is how you chose to spend your hard earn't money. Just wasting food because you can is different IMO.

A taster tapas style would be much less wasteful.

Yes A disney cruise is certainly greedy and wasteful
And i have taken 5 and have my next one booked

***THat said, to the OP just know that when you ask a question, your answers ar not limited to those that agree with you snd your opinions.

and with that said...

We have ordered more than one of each appetizer, main, desert and normally we (our family of 4) has sailed with another famly and we always try to get something different so udslly we end up with everything from thre menu on our table and often reorder soemthing if somone really likes a dish,

ENJOY YOUR GREEDY AND WASTEFUL CRUISE:cool1::rotfl2:

I didnt say that we order all of the items for no reason whatsoever and just waste them. We order items on the menu that we would like to eat. If it happens to be all of the items for the family to share then so be it.popcorn::

We've never ordered extra of anything but I guess we sort of did when we couldn't decide between a couple of appetizers so the servers brought both. And my oldest son DID get two appetizers once, come to think of it. He was a little embarrassed and looked at me to see if he was going to get in trouble (the server suggested it). I just laughed and told him to go for it! :rotfl:

The best surprise in regards to food on DCL was when we were in our third dining room one night and my husband was sad that they didn't have the dessert from the night before. The server brought him one from the other dining room. We had NO idea they would do that and wouldn't have asked them to even if we had known. What great service!!

So we have been on only other Disney Cruise on the Wonder for our honeymoon back in 2005 and we read on the message boards that some people tell their server to bring one of everything from the menu for them to sample, since it's free. So my husband and I ordered multiple entrees and appetizers when we were in our dining rotations and it was really fun. Has anyone else done that? Do they still allow that?popcorn::

We ordered multiple full entrees and ate from all of them. No we didnt finish them all. It was fun and something we cant normally do. Not really worried about being greedy. It's not like we are taking away from other people. Live a little...

Well, I figure it this way; we are paying A LOT of money for the cruise and it's all you can eat which means that the thousands we spent paid for the food on the cruise then we are entitled to whatever we want to eat. It's not like we are really getting it for free nor are we taking it away from anyone else who wants it. This is one of the perks of a disney cruise which we have spent money for so we should be able to take advantage of it. So if we want to order more than one entree, appetized and dessert because we cannot decide then we will. :woohoo:

Can we agree to disagree?

I never ordered more food than I thought I could really eat, but I didn't feel restricted by the categories on the menu... some nights I ordered two appetizers, but I skipped the soup/salad because I just can't eat that much food. The first couple of nights, my beef portions were WAY too big, however! I barely ate half of them and I felt bad sending away that much uneaten food. Many nights I ended up skipping dessert and just grabbing some ice cream later. I do wish they'd have tasting portions as an option, because a couple of nights I had a really hard choosing, but I really just can't pack that much food into my stomach. I did try my best, though, and I think that by the end of the week I'd added some elasticity, because I was eating midafternoon chicken strips and pizza, and then devouring my steak at the early dinner seating.

I have always ordered an extra appetizer or main course like lobster or prime rib but always with the intention to eat all of it not just try a little of each item...that would be wasteful.

And even if you don't finish all of that second dish, firstly your not going to walk away hungry, and only 1 dish isn't finished/wasted, and secondly there aren't 2 other dishes from the multiple dishes left part eaten or wasted.

Sample dishes DCL! Listen!

My absolute favorite appetizer is the Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes from Animator's Palate. There are no appetizers I like at Enchanted Garden (seafood, ugh!). Every cruise I have taken they have brought me the Purseittes from AP in EG. One cruise we were seated with 3 other couples and they brought them for everyone... with a double order for me!!! :thumbsup2

Maybe DCL should introduce a Tapas style option for the food for people that would like to try a bit of everything?

Ex Techie :)

I thought it was brilliant when DCL introduced the mini dessert samplers to each night's menu. Perhaps they should introduce mini appetizer and entree samplers as well. That would probably reduce waste as well.

DH and I always order multiple desserts. We have huge sweet tooths, and this is one of the pleasures of vacation for us!

I'm a big pasta lover, so often if there is a pasta entree and a meat entree that looks good, I'll ask for the meat entree and a side of the pasta, but they usually bring me a full plate of the pasta.

FWIW, we were on a galley tour of a Princess ship once, and they told us that the food that is not eaten (comes off of used plates) is ground up very fine and then expelled into the ocean, where it is eaten by small fish.

Correct! :thumbsup2 Bones as well.

I don't normally eat dessert at home. I've been watching what I eat (down 120 lbs. ) BUT on my last three cruises we have always ordered a round of desserts plus one for each of us! And yes I did hit the gym every morning. Only gained 3 lbs all week.

Yes! In fact, our servers kind of chuckled when I was trying to decide between two entrees and said, "I'm just going to bring you both!" This became the norm when there were multiple soups and salads I wanted to try. Some I liked, some I didn't.

The only place where you can't "technically" order one of everything is at Palo/Remy. However, our Palo server said that we could order two entrees and split a third if we wanted, as well as split a pasta if we wanted to try a pasta dish for dinner as well. She even said that if we were torn between two pastas to share as our "third" entree, she would give us half portions of each. Basically, there is food on the ship to be consumed and they aren't too worried about saving it. :)

Well, there we have it then! No waste at all! So the multiple entrees we order are not wasteful afterall and are NOT being just thrown away. I will take one of everything, thank you!:woohoo::lmao:

That's awesome! And that's what I plan to do as well; work out each day and eat, eat, eat!!! :woohoo::yay:
