Has anyone on the Disboards not seen Hocus Pocus (1993)?

It’s on Freeform at 9pm ET if you’re interested. If not, no worries. I’m just curious since so many assume that most have watched it at least once. I watch it after watching Disney’s Sleepy Hollow every Halloween while eating ginger cakes and apple cider, after eating a roast chicken (my family’s tradition).

I didn’t see it until two years ago, and I was bored through the whole thing. It was definitely a movie where I was watching my watch more than the screen. I have zero plans to see any sequels.

Who exactly are these "many"? There are VERY few movies I would assume that everyone has seen, in fact, I can't think of one. My gut says Star Wars (Ep 4), but my brain knows not everyone has seen it.

I remember watching it when I was a kid that still watched Disney Channel but that was over 15 years ago. I don't have an interest in watching it as an adult.

Ha, funny that you mention Star Wars because I have never seen a single Star Wars movie before. It's something I don't have an interest in.

I saw it when I was younger (probably 5-6) and thought I loved it. When I saw it again this year I didn't care for it, I'm not really sure why. I do remember the hanging part being really unsettling when I was younger, now the whole movie feels a tad unsettling lol

Ugh, I hate that Bette Midler is known for this movie. I was (still am) a HUGE fan of hers! I remember in 1991 waiting for months and months for For The Boys to come out. I still have a stack of magazines in my basement of interviews of her from that time period. I loved her so much. But in 1993 when I saw she was doing a silly kids Halloween movie I had no interest. To me that just wasn’t Bette. I didn’t go see it. But that same year she also starred in the TV version of Gypsy and was amazing in that! She even opened the Emmys that year performing one of her numbers. I saw her in concert for the first time in 93 also. I had pretty much blocked out that she has even made some silly kids movie until about 10-15 years ago when it suddenly became some big thing and everyone loved it. I still didn’t watch it. A few years ago I saw her in concert again and she did a bit dressed up like her character. About 3 years ago I was at a friends and she wanted to watch it. I watched with her but I have no memory of the plot, to me that just isn’t Bette. Bette is Beaches and The Rose and For The Boys. I hate to think that Hocus Pocus is all some people know her from 🙄

It’s a common thing I’ve heard. That’s why so many have an opinion on the movie (love it, hate it, or meh). I think it’s more popular with Gen Y though.
