Has anyone noticed in the past week or so, the Disney World special offer page has changed?
When you click on the "special offers" on the Disney World main page
Put in all the info for a "Value" resort stay
It automatically gives you a price quote and the ribbon says "Magic your way with Dining". The quote is for the full dining plan with the upgrade charge already figured in the price
You have to change the dining plan to the QS and THEN the ribbon changes to "Magic your way with FREE Quick Service Dining"

IMHO, this is very decieving. :confused3 If I was not an experienced Disney Value geek, I would be spending more and getting the full dining plan and not even realize it:sad2:

Can you add the link?

Can you add the link?

Here is the link to the special offer page,
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/special-offers/

If you try and book out a free QS dining package at any of the Value resorts, it automatically prices out the DDP with the upgrade charge already figured in the price and the banner says "Magic Your Way plus Dining". You have to go down to the "dining and entertainment" section and change your dining plan to the QS dining plan THEN the banner will change to "Magic Your Way plus FREE Quick Service Dining".

IF this link will open, here is the package that I was booking out
http://bookwdw.reservations.disney.go.com/ibcwdw/en_US/_framework/components/processEngine

But I have played with several dates over the past couple of weeks and noticed it on all the dates and all the Values.

I was pricing out some free dining vacations and I did notice the regular dining at pop. I didn't realize they added the upgrade $$. And yes, I agree, deceiving!!!

I see the same behavior when selecting either Value or a specific value resort such as Pop Century.

I would wonder if it's just a bug or really on purpose. I'd bet it's more of a bug. But either way, yeah, you really have to be paying attention and know the difference among the plans.

Very possibly a bug. I also found when I was pricing out my trip with the special offer page:
If I tried to book 12/15 thru 12/23 POP only had standard rooms available but
I took 1 day off at the end of my trip and tried to book 12/15 thru 12/22 POP had NO availability :confused3 (i could there being no availability if it were the opposite scenerio and I was adding the 23rd, but this makes no sense to me at all)
If I added a day to the beginning and left it thru the 22nd or added the 23rd back on and tried to book 12/14 thru 12/23 POP had both standard and preferred rooms available.

Oh well, I am booked and ultimately that is what matters. This just seemed very strange to me.

I was at WDW for free dining in August and called to bounce-back in August of 2012. I was quoted what I thought was a very high price for All Star Movies. I was in a rush to get to Magic Kingdom, so I didn't question it, just booked and decided to deal with it when I got home. Sure enough, they had automatically added the upgrade to the regular DDP from the free quick service plan. I know this was never discussed in the conversation. I'm not stressing because that's probably what we will do anyway. However, it does seem to be part of Disney's new "plan" - involuntary upgrades!!!!

I see it no different than having a preferred room per-selected when you get a quote. Not a big deal.

Just tried it.. sure enough, it automatically upgraded to the basic DDP. That is very deceiving. No Disney novice would have any clue that they were being charged for a dining plan upgrade. Even if you click to look at the other dining plans, there is no indication which dining plan is "free" and which is an upgrade.

If I was looking at it for the first time, I'd completely conclude that I was getting the basic DDP for free.

I think it is different, because user interface (UI) for the room type shows you the room type selections and the price different between them.

With their UI for the Dining and Entertainment, you aren't shown the price different among the different dining plans. You have to click Change Selection in order to see the other choices and make sure it's the plan you want.

Today this bug/behavior has changed. Using the free dining special offer, choosing a value resort correctly shows a free QSDP selection in the resulting quote.

It also has a message: "Your Package includes the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan for FREE. You may upgrade to the Disney Dining Plan for an additional cost. Or if you select a Moderate Resort hotel, you will be upgraded to a package that includes the Disney Dining Plan for FREE!"

This is why is it so important to use an authorized Disney vacation planner. They can always verify your discounts, and make sure that they are applied correctly. At our agency, we will even price watch, so if you book way in advance and then a deal comes out that will save you money, we will apply it to your reservation.
