I'm thinking of making them for my kids and husband for Valentines day and wanted any suggestions/recommendations.

I've never done a cookie bouquet, but I did do DH a candy bar bouquet one year. I bought wood skewers and his favorite candy bars and hot glued them on the sticks. I bought some fresh greenary and baby's breathe and arranged them all in a vase I had at the house.

My MIL makes them and has also sold them locally to friends/coworkers. A couple of years ago I asked her to make the cookies for me and then I assembled the bouquet for my son's teachers. She baked and decorated the cookies and then had to overnight them to me. I went to The Christmas Tree Shop and bought some containers and supplies.

Here is a photo of what I ended up making:

Absolutely aborable - thank you so much for sharing, you have given me inspiration!

OH. Check out bakerella.com. I forgot I bookmarked that site from another thread. Lots of great cookies on there that could easily be turned into a bouquet.

I am thankful for this thread. I am making 75 flower cookies on sticks for a wedding shower in March. I have never done it - but make killer cutouts. I want to use my recipe. But the decorating threads are great!

I also found this site: http://cakecentral.com/articles/112/how-to-bake-decorate-cookies. Gave me lots of ideas - good to explore.

There was another site that suggested putting a one to two inch thin piece of dough on the back side of the cookie to reinforce the stick and ensure the cookie will not fall off later. I will post if I locate. Silly me!

Happy Baking and wish me luck.

When do you put the sticks in the cookies and what type of sticks do u use?

These are gorgeous! What amazing teacher gifts they would make! I wish I had skills to make something like that! :wizard:

I also wanted to add that my MIL uses a Martha Stewart recipe for her cookies and icing. Not sure what book it is from, but these cookies taste so yummy!

I bought sticks at Michaels (Hobby Lobby or craft store) in the baking section. I made some today - put sticks in before baking. Check the link listed above for cake central.com

I also read somewhere yesterday when I was hunting around that you could "glue" the stick on after the cookies is cooled with a bit of the icing too? I have no clue which is better cause I've not tried either, but I might give these a shot for teacher appreciation week in May.

OH. I have another question. Using the photo in the thread as an example, would you wrap each individual cookie in some kind of plastic wrapping (I presume I can find that in the cooking section at Michael's or some place like that) or should I just wrap the whole bouquet in one large basket bag?

Also, do candy decorations "stick" to the icing good enough to "hang on". I'm thinking the pretty pastel M&M's at Easter time or something like that?

This is not a great example but:

I made these for a bake sale, so here iw what they look like wrapped individually.
As for the candies, you have to use Roayl icing if you want them to "stick".

use the recipe with meringue powder. It is much easier. you can find it with the cake decorating supplies.

I didn't wrap each cookie individually, I just bought cellophane large enough to go around the entire thing and tied it. I am sure you can find bags or wrap to go on them though.
