Has anyone heard rumors of changes to DDP 2009

Also, with the same rate of increase (25%) between 2008 and 2009 shown on the chart above. One could theoretically predict that the 2009 plan will cost $47.49 per adult, per day for the U.S.

I sure hope this won't be the case!

Wow, that would be crazy if the DDP cost $47.49 a person! I would think many people would be losing $ on it (I'm a vegetarian which makes all my TS meals a few dollars cheaper, so for me buying it would be like handing Disney $8+ a day.)

Unless maybe they are also planning a 25% hike in the cost of food :faint:

But maybe it is just a currency conversion issue?

If you go on the UK Disney World booking site - and you select an all inclusive package . . . you will see that they show the prices for Disney Worlds Dining Plan going up for 2009. I think this equals about $50 (see image below from website):

Which website did you get this from as the disney uk one I am looking at has children up to age 9 and under.

If I can get it for age 11 it would be so much cheaper
thanks

I have also been wondering about the childs age. I clicked on the link on the website on the screen shown above where it says for more information, click here. The only information that it gives is for 2008 DDP. The information for 2008 is still showing Child 3-9. I am hoping that the Child's Age 3-11 is a new change for 2009. My 9 year old will be 10 the next time we go in 2009 (Surprise trip!! SSShhhhhhh!!) She is a very small, petite 9 and there is no way she could eat $38 worth of food a day. It also seems the price, if we go by the UK price for children, is going to jump quite a bit. I am wondering if they are going to increase the age to 11 and also change the children's menus a little to give the kids better or more food choices(Maybe smaller portions of the items on the adult menus). I have seen many postings on this site of people complaining about the limited choices on the kids menus. If they make those changes, Disney will undoubtedly raise the price. Maybe I am just wishful thinking. We really didn't have any issues with the DDP when we went in 2007. My kids were always able to find something off the kids menu, but I do think $38 is alot to pay for a 10 yr old to eat. I would even be happy if there were a choice. Pay $10 and your child has to eat off the child's menu, pay $38 and your child gets to eat off the adult menu. I am sure that would be to hard for Disney to manage, but I can wish, I guess!!
Well, time will tell, but it really appears to me that something is going on with the child age.

I tried the link too and it is stating ages 3-9:confused3

Never mind. My daughter thinks that it is great that she can have the adult meal:rolleyes: She can put it away more than me and her dad though. Saying that the kids meals were plenty big enough for her. She just loves the thought of steak and lobster;)

I think a $10 increase is actually good if they do include the appetizer and tip. I would gladly pay that price.

I just looked again - all inclusive plus flight shows the dining to be 3 - 11 years old. . . however park ticket prices show 3 - 9 :confused3

From my personal experience, if you are decent eaters and enjoy taking time out to sit down and relax a bit, I think the DXDDP is awesome and definitely worth the money. An average meal sit down meal at WDW is about $50 a person with app and dessert. If you do 2 a day...and the paln only costs around $65 you are already making out without the snacks and refillable mug.
Before they came out with the deluxe we always used to do the gold plan which included 3 sit down meals a day with app, entree, dessert and gratuity...none were 2 credit..and any recreation...such as golf, renting boats, parasailing etc and cirque tickets. It was $139 a day...and it was still worth it.
But I think Disney really did a good job with the DXDDP because we never had time to use any of the recreation except the cirque tickets.

I believe the 3-11 ages is to do with the flights, as they're the ages Virgin (who Disney's flight inclusive packages are booked through) give you child prices.

For Disney ticket and dining plan, the usual 3-9 age group stands, which is why tickets show a different age band.

I read somewhere that they were upping cost of basic to around $50 a day and including appie and tip! If that rumor proofs true I would be happy !! I would be happy with tip and choice of appie OR dessert too as long as tipis included !!

I am sure a lot of people would be glad to pay 50 bucks for the app. and tip. But how many people really think that they are going to include both for 2009.
I mean, you never know, but I think it would be just one or the other. But I guess everyone out there can hope!:)

My daughter went to WDW with my sister in May and tried the Deluxe DDP. By the end of the vacation, they were left with 20 snacks and 7 TS meals. If you actually eat 3 TS meals a day, you do nothing but eat all day. Best to use the restaurants that require 2 TS per meal. They were all so full they didn't want to eat for days.

We always use the regular DDP and we eat plenty! I hope they don't take away this plan. We just won't do the deluxe plan.

It appears that Disney may be instituting the "DDP Light" come next January. It would consist of two counter service meals and no table service meals. How would this option work for you?

Personally, I think this is a great idea. We are doing the deluxe plan this time, I really love the idea of having everything prepaid upfront, and I'm one of those that's totally in it for the convenience. If I come out a little ahead, or a little behind, it's worth it to me to not have to stress about spending money on meals while I'm on vacation!

That being said, Disney has so many people doing the dining plans that it seams in peak seasons that restaurants are PACKED. Makes it hard to keep selling dining plans when people can't get ADR's. I think this plan would be a good fit for a lot of people, and help solve some of that problem.

I think this would be an okay idea, but it would have to be quite cheap, my kids would still want a character meal or two. I am not sure I could survive 8 days on burgers, and the kids on chicken strips and pb and j, lol.

I cant wait to hear what will really happen!
