I have been haunting these boards as well as being addicted to the weather channel. And I have seen posts from so many Florida DISers.
Thank goodness so many of you are safe, if uncertain about your homes.

Has anyone heard from Shirley and Norm? The last post I read they were checking out the shop before the storm really hit. I certainly hope that they are okay!

Shirley,
If you read this you are in my prayers!! Here's hoping that you and yours survived without too much damage! As did the whole area.
:smooth:

I know Shirley posted from a Condo - I do hope that they are both doing well - Knowing Shirley, she is out helping the community!

Yes, she and Norm are hunkered down in their condo. She said she saw the roof being peeled off the building next to the Holiday Inn Express. And she said there'd been a fire in the area due to generator use. I guess she must have had power at that point since she was able to go online.

Brevard Co had the most customers lose power--so I am sure that is why we haven't heard from her.

We are headed home today. Heard on the news that Cocoa Beach was accessible but cannot confirm that on-line.

We are headed "home"--but whether or not we can get there remains to be seen.

Good luck to everyone!

Good Luck on your trip home. Thanks for all of your updates over the past few days!

I've watched the weather channel reports, and read info on the net, but I still can't imagine what the folks in Florida have gone through over the past few weeks

Lisa, good luck on your trip and I hope that you can get home.

Dave, thanks for the info. I'm sure that we will hear from Shirley as soon as she has time.

For now I just keep praying for all those folks who are trying to get back home after a very long siege.::yes::

We did Recieve an Im from Shirley during the Early part of the Storm... All was ok But nothing Since then ....

Peter

I was going to ask the same thing last night but kept getting a 'busy server' message and gave up. I'm sure we'll hear something from Shirley and Norm as soon as they can. I'll keep them in my thoughts and prayers until then. Hopefully they can tell us how bad the area sustained damage, including the DCL terminal. Keep safe guys!

I keep trying the cell phones and the voice mail message picks up on the first ring................I'm VERY concerned...........

Phyllis

If they don't have power, they can't recharge their cel phones. Hope all is well.

Also concerned here, usually Ms Shirley is the 1st one to pop in and let us know all is well. How about Andy, has anyone heard from him in a while? I havent seen him post in awhile?

Newspeople have been reporting cell service down there is sketchy and overloaded as well. Don't count lack of contact that way as a bad thing either.

OK...never thought about that.

Just feel sort of helpless here.

We are getting residual from the hurricane. It started here about 0330 and is continuing. It is very dark here, raining and blowing like crazy....there is debris all over the area we live in and our yard is a mess. Small debris..but some of it is tree branches.
But nothing compared to what is going on in Florida...just what is going on now.

Phyllis

The last report I heard from an orlando local tv web feed was late yesterday, that local officials had toured the area of CB and there was damage but not severe and only 20% of the area had power. So it may just be a lack of their ability to contact anyone on the outside right now.

I'm sure Shirley and Norm are okay but not able to get through. Our phones and cell service yesterday was horrible here in Naples and I had an even harder time trying to get on line. Most people are without power there so she wouldn't be able to post here. It may be days before anyone hears from here and my family over there is being told it may be a week until they all get back their power. Hopefully SHirley is fine and surviving the heat today.

I'm on the phone (cell number below) with Shirley right now. The shop took a hard hit and Shirley was hit in the head with a flying object, but she said she was O.K. and she sends her love and best to all.

Shirley has not had power for three days, but she was able to charge up her cell phone with the car charger.

Shirley and Norm are taking care of several elderly people that live in her condo building because the people didn't have anywhere to go.

Shirley said if anyone is stranded and needs help with a place to stay, they can try and reach her on her cell at 321-508-2246. Shirley said that the Cocoa Beach area will be opened in about one hour.

This storm took a toll on Shirley emotionally, and I'm sure she would appreciate all your prayers.

Thanks Verandah Man for letting us know Shirley and Norm are okay. Please let her know prayers are coming to her and Norm from Gainesville,FL.

Maria

Shirley said that she and Norm will be going to the shop on Tuesday to start cleaning up the mess. My mom is hoping to be able to drive down and help them, as long as she can get out of town. Other than that, I don't know what else to tell you.

How awful!!!
We were just looking at the destruction in Cocoa Beach on televisions and I had to see if anyone had an update here. I am going to try to call Shrley and she if we should try to get out there and assist. We are in Celebration...not sure how the roads are, as A1A looks absolutely terrible!! I am so worried about poor Shirley now!
Andy, did you get her on her cell phone?
