has anyone had baby cry on a ride?

my baby will be 14 months and i wonder if i had her on a ride..say peter pan or pirates ride and she all a sudden has a fit what would i do? usually she is good but you never know how a baby might react on a dark ride. has this happened to anyone before and what did you do? thanks

If she cries, just comfort her as best you can. Luckily, the rides aren't too long. If your baby is afraid of the dark, try carrying a small portable flashlight. This way you can turn it on during dark rides.

As Nik's mom said, just try to comfort your child. I took my DS when he was not quite 18 months old. He did great on all the rides we took him on but occasionally, he would be tired or hot or just choose to get fussy. All you can do is try to keep them as calm as possible. Luckily, at this age, they aren't scared of too much!

we just got back with a 14 month old, she was fine on all the rides she did, but if she had gotten upset all you can do is comfort them - other than perhaps spaceship earth, most baby friendly rides are pretty short. She fell asleep on Spaceship Earth, and was quite happy even on Pirates which has a bit of a drop at the beginning

She did get really fussy one evening when we were waiting for Wishes to start, and wouldn't settle or take her bottle, so I took her to the babycare center and 5 minutes in a quiet room with her bottle calmed her right down - if you need to get away from the noise these are a great optoin

When my daughter was 11months she enjoyed all the rides but I had a bad experience on carousel of progress which put me off seeing any shows with her.The CoP was practically empty so DH and I sat right at the back with DS 2 and DD. A couple decided to sit right in front of us despite the seating being practically empty. As soon as the doors shut and the music started DD started to cry. I tried nursing her but she was too stressed. The couple in front turned around and sighed, I got up and walked with DD to the exit, tripping in the dark, and had to wait for the doors to open at the end. I was so embarrassed!! Now I am about to do it all again with my 5month old- I must be mad!

My ds was 18mo on his first trip. He was terrified of Pirates, and did not like the storm at the Tiki Birds. By that age he didn't cry much anymore and pretty much just burried his face in my chest and rode it out.

thanks for the advice..i think i'll advoid the longer rides with her. she can be quite the handful when she gets upset. i'm more concerned about people around me getting annoyed if my daughter starts to get loud and fussy on a ride. i don't think that will happen but she will be experiencing major sensory over load that week so we'' ll see.

i can't believesomeone sat right in front of you with carossel of progress being empty. that is a pet peeve of mine..like when a parking lot is practically empty and someone decides to park right next to me as i'm trying to get everyone out of the car

My 17mo was fine on all the rides if she was on my lap. On the darker rides, she would usually nuzzle up and fall asleep. She LOVED the shows, especially Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.

I was really worried about this when we traveled with kids for the first time (mine were 3 and 1 on that trip and I wasn't sure how they'd do on the rides). It turned out we had no problems at all on rides. The one small crying episode we had was with the 1-year-old on Spaceship Earth but it didn't really matter because the narration and music were SO loud, they pretty much drowned our son out! We did avoid Carousel of Progress (a bad one since there is no escape) and most of the shows/films. All in all everything was wonderful.

We took our ds for the first time when he was 13 months and he did have a few crying fits while on rides - once at the end of PotC, the boats were "stacking up" (probably due to loading/unloading issues) and ds had just decided he'd had enough and wanted off. We also got delayed in HM once, which he wasn't happy about. He definitely doesn't like sitting still for long, LOL! We also found we couldn't take him into shows or anything that was really loud (like Mickey's Philharmagic) because he was sensitive to the loud noises. Nursing/feeding never worked for us because he has eating issues anyway, but a pacifier sometimes did the trick. We basically just comforted him the best we could and then took a little break after getting off the ride to help soothe his nerves. It didn't take us long to figure out what kinds of attractions he would tolerate. Like the pp said, the rides are usually short (unless you get stuck on one like we did ). Fortunately, this last trip at 17 months, he did so much better and loved absolutely everything. It was almost like we had a different kid!
