Has anyone gotten in as a walk-up to a character meal?

We have tried and tried to get into a character meal with Cinderella (CRT or 1900 PF) during our stay and it just isn't happening.

Would a walk-up have any chance at 1900 park fare?

I don't mind waiting around for a couple hours praying for an opening...however, I am not sure how I would go about this without seriously disappointing my 6 year old Cinderella obsessed dd if we didn't manage to get in.

Has anyone had experience as a walk-up?

We walked up for breakfast at 1900 a few years ago and got right in.It was before the dining plan so it was easier then.
