They are having a sale right now and I was wondering about their prices.

We checked into them a couple times when in the market and they were easily at least twice as expensive as the other places for the exact same thing. They will install next day though, so I think thats what you're paying for. I also didn't like the creepy guy that came out the second - and last time!:scared1:

I had them come out before I put my laminate down and their 50% off price was twice as much as Home Depot's! Of course, they tried to tell me how theirs was better, but most laminate has a 15 year warranty anyway. I ended up going with a private installer, who was even cheaper than Home Depot.

WE checked them out for Hardwood flooring. First off the guy only wanted to sell laminate. He only brought 2 samples of flooring. Kept calling his boss to get us a better deal. He was very upset that I did not want to sign the paperwork that night. They were two times as expensive and wanted to contract out the work. I wanted an employee of the company to be held responsible for the work not a contractor.

Yeah, I remember the salesman trying to talk me into carpet, when I was surprised at the high price. I was trying to get RID of all my carpet, so I don't know what he was thinking!:headache:

We got carpet from there a few years ago.

The quote was just under the price at Home Depot, but after they did the install they told me the sales guy didn't include the stairs and upstairs hallway on the order.

We went back and forth and finally several months later I did get my stairs and upstairs done. But they were very difficult to deal with and obviously tried to cheat me.

They came out and priced redoing our basement and a new office for us. Their prices seemed high, the guy seemed to be making it up as he went along and it seemed like buying a new car - you had to haggle and would always wonder if you could have gotten him down even further. The other thing that bugged me was that our padding in our basement is premium and only 4 years old - the carpet is a mess from a bad installation by Home Depot, but the guy refused to install over our old padding and wanted to charge us a ton for new pad as well. I won't be calling them again - I knew the commercials sounded too good to be true!

My Grandparents used Empire and that would be the VERY last time they ever did!

The salesman was very unprofessional, the installers ruined their furniture and it took them 3 days to get all the carpet in the house (upper level and downstairs); and the worst part, my Grandparents ordered a chocolatey brown color carpet and it arrived ROSE! :mad:Trust me, never use them!

My brother lived next door to a carpet installer, and I asked that installer one time of what he thought of Empire. He said the same as all the other posters, over priced and not very professional. He said he'd only ever use them if he was totally desperate for new flooring fast (say a land lord needing to re-carpet an appartment for a new tenant, or your overlly critical MIL is arriving in two days and your dog just destroyed your floor).

We checked into them last year for replacing our carpet and I was unhappy. They scheduled the appointment and then I stayed home all day waiting and no one ever showed up. I called and they told me that they just didn't have enough people to come out that day and would I like to reschedule. I told them no because I was so angry that they didn't call me before the appointment time to tell me this. Then, a guy shows up an hour later! He didn't even bring any hardwood samples like I asked for and I wasn't happy with their carpet quality.

we used them for this house. Only because we were desperate as our original carpet person (who had already ripped out all the carpet!) was a month behind on getting our stuff in with no end in sight. We had to move in so we paid the premium. The carpet is just ok and the installers were nice guys who worked very hard to get it all done in just a few hours but they did some sloppy work in places and there is something hard under the carpet at the base of stairs which we never bothered to have them come back and rip up since we were moved in already.

I wouldn't use them again unless desperate though.

As for price it was about 1k more than it should have been.

They did the carpet in the condo I own. (before I purchased it)

Installation is BAD and I have lots of issues because it wasn't properly streched! Carpet is "cheap" and I think the prior owner paid a premium

One of my daycare parents worked for them if that's what you want to call it. Their sales people are independant contractors who know going into the job what their bottom line is and anything above that is right in their pocket. He always said it was for people that wanted their carpet the next day, and if that's what you want then you are going to pay a much higher cost. He only worked for them short term, and sold to friends and himself because he was virtually getting the floors at cost because he was waving his comission.

I had a very bad experience with National Floord Direct, they are just like Empire, and when I had a real floor installation company come to fix everything, they told me all about Empire & National Floors Direct and what a bad service.

DONT DO IT!!!!!!!
