I just started scrapping in 0ct of 2004. My dk's are now 4 and 6. So I have missed out on a lot of years of scrapping! EEK! :earseek: I have been thinking about when I am caught up to with the pics I have done this last year going back and trying to get some done. The task seems so daunting. I admit my pics are a mess they are just thrown in boxes. That I at least sorted when I started scrapping but still in boxes. I am thinking that at least photo albums would be better then nothing! Has anyone conquered this task? I would love to do a wedding album and I have old Disney pics from before I was married in 1995. So I have alot of work ahead of me If I decided to do this.

I didn't start scrapping until my kids were 4 and 6 and then I only did vacation albums and their first year's albums. I have all the photos in chronological order in photo boxes. That was my first step. Once I start scrapping again I plan to do the one's that are current and then work my way backward in time.

Oh I KNOW I will never caught up -
I try to at least put photos in boxes per kid instead of chronologically (hopefully in each kids box they are CLOSE to chronological!)
and I scrap what I feel like scrapping-
I found when I treid doing all of my oldests pictures into books - it wasn't fun :(
So now I just grab somepictures and scrap what strikes my fancy at the moment - if I don't have an album for that age yet or whatever I just stack them on the shelf and eventually I take the whole pile and put them where they need to be!

I have done some of "the past." The only reason I have some of it scrapped was the CM I got started with used to have a contest each January to the
First of March. She called it Photo Finish and people made up teams of 2-4 and scrapped our little hearts out. She gave a few incentives - free crops, mini-prizes for the week's highest average, discounted page protectors, etc. Of course it was a great money maker for her -- all those pages sold. The grand winners, based on per person average, received a free 12x12 album. The first year I did it w/ a neighbor who got me started in all this. We were extremely competitive, but we came in second (behind two people on her downline(?), which was technically against her own rules (yes, years later I'm still bitter about that ;) .

I don't think I ever would have done that much of the past without the contest. (yes, I did do it again the next year with my neighbors -- we placed second AGAIN, though I was over my competitiveness). I just lumped pictures by themes: Christmases past, soccer, grandparents, vacations, houses, motorcycles, snow days, school pictures, gave each family member a spread, etc. It was actually pretty fun that way -- seemed like less pressure to remember details and I fit a bunch of photos on each page. I would love to go back and do a college album since those are still in magnetic albums. DH and I were dating through much of college, so I could take care of both of us with one album.

It's a lot of work and I wouldn't have done it the regularity of the contest and crops. I can't wait to get my craftroom built in this house.

I started scrapping in October 2000 (WDW vacation album) then I didn't scrap again really until February 2002 after our frist Disney Cruise.

That album really got me into scrapping and so after I finished I decided to go back to when I met my hubby (1996) and I scrapped my photos in a chronological album(s) from 1996 until now.

I didn't scrap as many pages as I would have done had I been a scrapper back then but I got in all the important stuff in our lives and I am happy I did it! I still have to finish 2004 but oh well, one day :cool1:

The answer is yes and no...or more accurately - I'm in the process of doing that.

I started with several special trips and then did DS and DD's Scouting "history". Since I started scrapping well after they did those things I went back to the beginning. I've also done DS's football and backtracked to when he started playing in 7th grade.

Once those albums (and I continued to do special trips along the way) were caught up I backtracked DS to the start of high school. I plan to do the same with DD. As those are then current (and I plan to keep moving forward with those) then I will leap frog backwards - middle school, elementary school, etc.

I keep telling myself that way the most current stuff is done and I'll get to the rest of it eventually. Meanwhile, the photos are all (or mostly) in sleeve albums so I can pull as needed.

I don't plan to go back and scrap my past. I did go back and scap my kids (or plan too) I did my son's baby album last year he was 6. I still need to do DD she is 9. Luckily I have all of the pictures in order in pocket albums. I did do those baby books that you write in so it won't be too hard.
I don't think I could ever go back much futher than that. Too hard. Plus everything thing is in albums and have notes in them.

I think the first step is to get all the pictures in order. I buy the photo boxes from michaels when they go on sale for $1.49. Then I take out a section of pictures at a time to work on, not necessarily in any type of order.

Yes, I'm scrapping my past right now. I'm in 1995. I'll be doing my brother's failed marriage soon - working backwards has it's advantages - at the time the wedding had it's own slip-in album - now that I know it didn't work out, it will probably get two pages! ;)

You girls are all so young :)! Yes, I am scrapping my past ... I started scrapping three years ago. After going to to a CM party, I came home & removed all my old photos from the old sticky photo albums. My original goal was to have EVERYthing organized before I started to scrap. Then I got overwhlemed & started scrapping bits & pieces. I have about 30 years of photos & am slowly making progress :). I am still missing several photos from 1992-1994 - hoepfully some day they will show up.

I have scrapped my past too. I started scrapping 8 years ago when my kids were 1, 2, and 6. I did my WDW trips first then I went back to my birth. I am extremely anal so I had to start at the beginning and work in order. I did a book(s) that I call family books and then each child has a
book(s). Although I have had a time or two with no pics to scrap, it has been a while. I am happy that I went back to do my pics (I would have done DH too, but DMIL wouldn't give them up). My kids have been able to see what I looked like, my friends, pet, etc... It is neat to go back and see which of my kids look liked me. Plus, it made me get all those pics outof magnetic albums.

I am now working on my Mom's pics. She had pics from my Grandparents childhood and of course hers. I think the pics start around the 1920's. I started this past summer and I am now up to 1968. One book is totally filled and I am on number 2. I also had her take out all their Disney trips and I scrapped those for her Christmas present. I hope to have her second album filled by Mother's Day.

Yes I have scrapped my past. The CM powersort box is great and really helped me get organized.

The only current thing I have done is my sons school album.

I took 2 trips down to S carolina in 03 and 04 and just finished that album last month.

I also finished my Niagara Falls trip from 03 last month.

I did a whole album from my parents wedding up to my graduation and I finished that last December sometime.

I am going back right now and working on my wedding album (been married 6 years this year). Going to do my son's baby album, my step sons baby album and his school album. I am scapping most everything now that is in the past.

It isn't hard once you get organized.
