Has anyone flown Song yet...????

Song has already started out of some cities (I know New York is one of them, can't remember the others). They are scheduled to start flying out of Boston the first week in June (the 5th or the 6th I think).

I have a flight booked in August from Boston as well, and I'm curious to see if Song is really going to be all it says it's going to be. Have you looked at the website? I'm curious about the food they are selling online, and the inflight entertainment (about the costs and all that). I know that those things aren't going to be on all the planes for a while, but I'm curious to see what will be available on the flights from Boston.

Does everybody know that until their entertainment package becomes available on their flights (Oct.), that they have bought 2000 Gameboy Advances with 6 different games for all their flights for the kids to use? My sons already have them, but it would be cool to try out the games.

We're flying them 8/15 to the cruise. I just hope we don't have any flight delays.

Song has 33" pitch whereas Delta Express had 31" pitch (pitch = seat spacing). So yes, more leg room.

If you want to see what they are selling on the aircraft, there is a menu with prices on flysong.com. Look near the lower left corner. They take cash or course, but I believe they recently started taking credit cards for onboard purchases also.

The first aircraft or so will have in-seat video by the end of October, with the other aircraft transitioning to the in-seat video afterwards. I think the aim is to have them all operational sometime during the first quarter of 2004.

We flew Song from JFK to MCO in May. Check in was an absolute breeze! We printed our boarding passes at home and didn't check any luggage, but the kiosks are very easy to use and the area was empty(you miss all the lines for Delta flts). There is slightly more legroom and the seats are brightly colored leather. The in-seat tvs are not installed yet, but you have the use of Game Boy Advance if you like. Menus feature food from Pizzeria Uno such as wraps, sandwiches, and salads, as well as candy, chips(kid on our flt was screaming nonstop-I want the Pringles!!), and other snacks. We thought the wraps, sandwiches were very good and reasonably priced, but you'd be better off bringing your own chips and candy. You still only get half a can of soda, but you no longer get the comp bag of snack mix. The flight attendants on our outbound flight were terrific-very professional and managed to take orders and serve quite quickly. Our return trip was a nightmare. The flt attendants not only looked disheveled but didn't seem to know what they were doing. I was truly worried about what would have happened in the case of an emergency-they didn't inspire confidence. I understand that things are new, but this group was awful. They just barely finished the beverage service before we landed and didn't have time to pickup trash from the people they did serve. I think Song is trying too hard to capture the "hipness" of Jet Blue and the "fun" staff of Southwest. The flt attendants on our return overdid the joking around- I wished they would shut up and just let us relax! At this point, an ok experience, but nothing so special (or such great fares!) that I'd only want to fly Song.

I'm sure that your return trip flight attendants would have been just fine during an emergency as that is their #1 priority in training and on the job (not food and drink service). They are all ex-Delta flight attendants but the food service on Song is much different than Delta, so I'm sure that many of them were/are still getting used to the new procedures, etc.

One of my co-workers just flew song from Boston, and I asked her about it. She said that the seats seemed smaller than on other planes she's been on. She said she felt very squished. She's a bit bigger than the average person, but not huge. Her 21 year old DD is very petite, so she wouldn't have been squished from one side.

As people have mentioned, the plane loads at row nine instead of the front of the plane. I'm actually in row nine for my flight down, and row 10 for my flight home when I fly Song in August (well, this is assuming they don't change the flight around again and move my seats for the fourth time since I booked in August).

She said that they were selling sandwiches, chips, and candy. She didn't say if shw bought any, though.

She said that the flight crew was super nice, and that the atomosphere was very laid back.

I've heard this too but I'm wondering how they board??

Is is back to front; rows 34 thru 9 and then the front seats; rows 1 thru 8?? Anyone know how they handle it?

The door to the plane is at row 9 instead of in front of row one. I'm not sure if they fill the higher numbered seats first or the lower numbered seats first, though.

Instead of the usual board-by-row numbers, Song utilizes "zone boarding". There are 6 zones and your boarding card will indicate which zone you board in. Zone 1 is first to board and so on.

Your zone should be specified on your boarding card. I don't know how the zones are broken up. I'm still trying to figure out how the zones are assigned, but I think it's computerized based on number of passengers, seat assignments, and number of pre-boarding passengers (special assist, etc.).

If I get more info, I'll post...

Oh, so they've switched to what AA does. I can't figure it out either except a couple AA experts told me they board first class first and people with children...don't know if that's true though...
