has anyone flown from Vancouver?

Is there anyone who has flown to DW from Vancouver? I'm taking my daughter next December, and wondered if anyone has any tips for such a long journey. We're staying at the Orleans riverside as it looked soooo pretty and relaxing after the wonderful disney chaos! We live on Vancouver Island so can fly out of Victoria or Vancouver. This will be her first trip (she's 11) and the first time for me in 30 years! I'm so execited as this is a surprise for her! She has no idea! So, any hints or tips would be very much appreciated!!!

I did my first two trips to WDW. This year I'm flying out of SeaTac.

It was worth the drive down as I saved over $100 per ticket and we also booked a room with ParknFly and are paying the extra for more days of parking and it still is cheaper. We are able to use ME to deliver our bags also.

When flying from Vancouver the first layover was Houston and the second trip it was Dallas/Ft.Worth.

We always fly out of Seattle too. To WDW, we have only used Alaska Air from SEA-MCO. However, JetBlue now flies from Seattle, and they had some pretty nice fares when we wanted to fly from San Diego to Seattle. You may want to check them out for the SEA-MCO route.

mimmy42: You'll like POR. We stayed there in spring 2005 in the Alligator Bayou building. They were just finishing their reno and we were the first ones to use that room after the reno. The grounds are beautiful. Try to get a room that is close to the main building/bus depot/parking lot/laundry facilities; otherwise the walk would be huge to everything. I don't quite remember what building we were in (#15??)...but ours was close to all of the essentials, which I definitely appreciated after long days at the parks.

Definitely fly out of Seattle. It is so much cheaper because you do not have to pay the ridiculous fees and taxes that you do in Vancouver.

Check out www.hotwire.com They have some really good deals on flights. This way you can see multiple airlines at once.

I got a flight from Seattle to Orlando (layover for 45mins in Atlanta) and direct return to Seattle for $240/person including tax for September on Delta Air

I agree with the other posters - fly out of SeaTac! I priced out the trip a year ago and the cheapest flight I could find out of YVR was well over $800 each (and was NOT direct) - the flight we ended up booking was out of SeaTac and was $335 each (including all taxes and fees, and is DIRECT)!!! Seems worth the 2.5 hour drive to me We are flying Alaska Airlines.

We live in S. Surrey and are driving down the afternoon of the flight. In your case, why not either fly Victoria to Seattle or take the ferry to WA (sorry, can't remember where that US-bound ferry goes in WA)? Either way, you will save A LOT OF MONEY!

Oh, and we will be using MasterPark at SeaTac for our vehicle - the price difference between using MasterPark (which is secured and very reputable) and using the SeaTac parking lots was well over $100! Obviously, we'll be going with MasterPark LOL

Don't forget to check Southwest Airlines too if you're flying out of Seattle. I would never fly out of Victoria or Vancouver anymore - quite the rip off.

Greyhound from Vancouver to Seattle is $31 per person.

Definitely check air our of Seattle. YVR is way to expensive.

I don't have a car and the bus/train get to Seattle too late for same day flights all the way to Florida. I usually book a flight to Seattle or Portland and continue from there. Flights are usually around $600 return that way (instead of over $800)

I live in the fraser valley and we always fly from either Bellingham or Seattle. I wouldn't ever spend the $ to fly from Vancouver, as I can fly 2 of us for less than one fare from Vancouver. You should seriously look into Seattle. Sometimes I get a good deal going from Bellingham as well.
Last year I paid $396 return for BOTH of us from seattle-orlando. This year prices have gone up, but I am hoping for a southwest price drop. I am paying about $700 return for the 2 of us for January, which is still tons cheaper than from Vancouver!
We go down the night before to Seattle by car or by the bus, stay over night and then fly out early the next morning. There is the www.quickcoach.com - I will take that from south surrey the afternoon before, stay at an airport hotel (use their shuttle), then get the 6am flight out the next day, getting us into orlando around 5-6pm.

Hi, I'm in Victoria. I'll be going to WDW for the first time in a month flying from Vic to Seattle, then direct from Seattle w Alaska. We're not going to bother driving to Seattle, although it would save $, it'd just take too long to be worth it. *Shrug* We paid about $200 round trip Vic-Sea. And then we booked our package through disney including airfare, so no idea. We're all about the easy!

Alaska Air has an 11:00pm direct flight that arrives in Orlando at about 7:30am the next morning. So, taking the bus would work for that flight, right? It's a lot cheaper than having to fly YVR to Seattle or Portland first.

We've flown to WDW twice. In 2006 it was way cheaper for us to fly from Seattle, but in May 2008 we got a seat sale from Vancouver, and that way was cheaper.

Watch your options for flights and layovers. It might be better to spend an extra $30/ticket if total travel time is 3 hours shorter.

My girls were younger (in 2006 -4&1, in 2008 - 6&3), but I found having new books and activity books (crossword puzzle or similar) and a deck of cards was great. You can pick up your own earphones at the dollar store and some flights have little TV's included.
Does your DD like crafts? little cross-stitch ornament kits are small and time consuming - you just can't take scissors, but I've just used nailclippers when travelling.

I didn't read all the replies sorry, but I imagine anyone with an idea is telling you are crazy to fly out of Van. when Seattle is right there!! We always ALWAYS fly from Seattle you will save a TON!! for us it was either $600 round trip from Van or $167.00 round trip taxes in from Seattle!! so worth it for us. If you don't care to save a few bucks then it is a long flight. but at 11 should be very manageable. Hope she has a great time!!

We personally always look for the really early morning flights. Our kids are a bit younger than yours (2 and 7yrs) but we found that getting them up early is easier than keeping them up past bedtime. The airport is always dead and the security lines WAY faster. then they sleep for a bit on the plane and get there in the afternoon. We find kids are way easier to deal with when it is morning than keeping them past dinner time.. then they lose it LOL So this time we picked a flight an hour longer than another choice only because it left at 6am rather 12 noon. We did both flight times last year and morning was by far the best choice (another DIS mom recommended morn. flights to me thank goodness!) This time they both are early woohoo The only one who suffers is me.. not a morning person LOl but we stay at an airport hotel (pricelined for next to nothing) and that helps

One more vote here, ALWAYS fly out of SEA (Seatac International).

Last year I flew three people for just under $1000.00 Canadian from Seattle to Orlando with a short layover in Dallas. In September my son and I going and with a short layover in Atlanta we ate paying $430.0 for the two of us. The best rate that I have ever seen out of Vancouver to Orlando was $624.00 each after all the taxes and fees.

We always fly out of Seattle no matter where in the US we are going.

We saved over 1000.00 when we flew to WDW in 2006. We're going to Hawaii in October and saved another 1200.00! I used bestfares.com to find our flight to WDW.

Another parking option is at the Marriott TownePlace suites in Southcenter. For $189 we are getting our room, breakfast, shuttle to and from the hotel to the airport and parking for a week.

If you don't need a hotel, we have used extra car parking the last 2 times and have been very pleased with them. It's always been about $70/week to park there.

Since you are on Vcr Island, isn't there a ferry you can take directly to Seattle??
