The hurrican wiped out our time share and the company has made arrangements with Interval International for 2005. I looked on their web site and see that they have a few porperties (Boardwalk for one) on WDW. I was thinking about using them to stay there. Has anyone ever done this? Is it a good deal?

We haved exchabged through interval for other properties, but when we asked for a WDW property they essentially said it would never happen...requests needed to be in a year in advance and then they said rooms hardly ever come up.....

It is a VERY good deal.

kept in mind that OKW 2-bedroom is probably more of what you are used too.

2-bedroom hardly ever come up.

studios and 1-bedroom do.

the 1-bedroom are probably a little smaller than what you are use to at BWV - but they are attached to a hotel and have all of the hotel activities/amnities.

the Disney resorts are using II code - BCV, DBW, DVO, DSS and DWL.

what resort did you own and how badly damaged is it?

We ownd Club Destin and it was pretty much destroyed (from our understanding) We are given till 12/15/05 to book.

Interval International does ALOT of off site Vacation Club bookings, if you post your question on the DVC board the DVC members can probably help you out... :)

I would definitely go with one of the Disney's at WDW resorts.

Sorry about your timeshares - that is very nice of II to do this!!!

my mom was II and she has it it for 10 years we have never been able to get into any disney property
when we toured DVC this year they said it was impossible and the giy said he had been doing dvc for 5 years and could only think of 3 people who had transfered in. It is close to impossible...
good luck

Is this the Club Destin that is operated by Fairfield? If so, will they allow you an internal trade to Fairfield Bonnet Creek...it is the closest "off-site" timeshare to WDW, in fact, you must enter WDW property for access . It is near Carribean Beach.

I do not know. I will have to look that up. All I know is that Club Destin wrote us a letter and said that we would not be able to use the time share for 2005, but that they had made arrangement s with II. We do not have to give up our week. It will cost us 199.00 though. If I can stay at WDW or DL for 199.00 then I figure that is a deal. :jumping4:

We actually own II and DVC and purchased DVC after staying at OKW through II last May (2004) - DH was online one very late night and was idly searching for vacation ideas and stumbled upon a 2br OKW and booked it without even asking me - it is that rare. But it IS possible. However, to be on the safe side I can recommend a few places we have stayed pre-DVC through II. The Blue Tree Inn Resort is close to the Crossroads at Lake Buena Vista, are almost always available and had very nice accomodations. We also stayed at Celebrity Suite and Spas for a few days and the three room condo was huge and very nice - located right off of 1-192 and very close to SuperTarget (yayy!). However, the closest you can get to a WDW experience without WDW property is definitely the Sheraton Vistana which is fantastic and usually available. If you have any questions about II, feel free to PM us at any time - we've had it for several years and while we love DVC even more, we wouldn't get rid of II.

Hope this helps!

Jennifer

It is very rare to get onsite accommodations through II. You can try but it is highly unlikely that it will happen. If you do get a WDW property it will most likely be at OKW.

We're staying at OKW 1/22-1/29/05 in a 2br through an II exchange. So it is possible.

We used II to trade our Marriott timeshare for a 2 bdrm at the Four Seasons in San Diego. I have never stayed any place nicer in my entire life! I know you want Disney, but I just thought I would mention it.

I had always heard it was close to impossible for folks to trade into WDW with II. I'm glad the poster above had some luck. :)

I believe Club Destin is a highly rated resort and should trade well thru II. I own DVC as well as a nice timeshare (but a Blue week) in Newport RI. Just this morning I got an II match for our RI (2BR) week at OKW in a 1BR in early May (they had a September 1BR match at BWV as well). We had an existing waitlist with II with all WDW area DVC resorts (BCV, BWV, OKW, SSR and VWL) for any time between March and New Years '05, so we were super-flexible. I am ecstatic about this match since I had already reserved this week in a studio for my Aunt using DVC points; now I can redeposit these points and use them maybe next year. OKW is a lovely resort and quite convenient (Auntie loves it), plus we got a larger unit for her.

DVC properties are pretty hard to get thru II trades, but with enough flexibility in terms of dates and unit size, you should be able to make it work. For example, if you can live with a 1BR or a studio, you are much more likely to get a good match than if you insist on a 2BR. Also if you can pick several different time periods, you are more likely to score a match than if you can only go one particular week.

I'd definately try to trade into a DVC property. One thing you will need to know is, DVC charges a $95 fee for trading into one of their properties, something only a few other resorts do; some folks resent paying it since they already paid for the trade and their maintenence fees at their home resort. I don't mind; I'm staying on-site without having to use my precious DVC points.

And remember, "friends don't let friends stay off-site".;)

My friend traded her Marriott week from a different destination for a week at OKW in a 2 BR villa. She was thrilled and as I understand it, did so with no cost per her Marriott agreement.

I did not know you could trade with DVC. Anyay I am not trading with II. We are not giving up our week (cant use it anyway because they are closed) We do have to pay 199.00 to II. I will check into the DVC trading idea for future reference.

DVC only trades through II - not RCI.

so yes your club destin might get you a DVC.

anyway go for the DVC you will love it!!!
