Mr. Dr. just gave me a month supply of these for weight loss. Just wondering if anyone has any experience. He said there was a very slight possibility of interaction with my Paxil but nothing major.

Anyone ever taken this?

Beauty, I don't think that we have reliable data about the interaction of Adipex with SSRIs (Paxil, etc). You'll just have to see. I'm NOT a big fan of phentermine; it's 1/2 of the unfortunate fen-phen combination which caused cardiac valvular disease several years ago. It appears to be safer when not in that combination but in my experience can cause increased restlessness, agitation, and dry mouth. Some people experience an elevation in blood pressure.

The amount of weight lost with these "anorectic" drugs is not much more than with placebo (sugar pills). I'm much more a fan of a deliberate, consistent diet program coupled with exercise. I've seen patients lose 100 lbs........and gain it all back. WHY??? They never really changed their dietary habits/behavior.

Best of Luck to you,

Thanks EROS,

I totally agree...I am flip flopping between taking them and not taking them. I took them before and lost a ton of weight and of course gained it all back.

I'm scared though cause my BP was 164/100.....he thought some of that may have been because I was scared......so he wants me to come have it taken in the next few days after I've calmed down....lol. He told me I have to loose the weight though because high blood pressure and diabetes run in my family and the blood pressure was high today, but no diabetes YET! And he said it was a big YET.....so the weight HAS to come off, somehow...its hard though!

Thanks for the well wishes.

Hey, you're ABSOLUTELY RIGHT........., but I know that you can do it!!!!!!!!:D :D

As you may know, your diastolic pressure, the lower number in the fraction 164/100 should be less than 90mm. If the phentermine causes it to rise above 90mm, TRASH IT!!!!!

In any event, you'll need a steady diet to follow as well. High protein, low CHO..........or High CHO, low fat, etc......whatever has worked for you previously.

Best of luck:) :) :)

Yep....my doc said nothing white is a good started...lol....no mayo, no bread, potatoes....you know the good stuff:D :D

Luckily my cholesterol wasn't high and no diabetes so if I get it off now then I feel like I will have won...if that makes any sense!

You know some people might disagree EROS but I think your a pretty good guy:) :)

Now you are completly wrong and I disagree strongly with everything you have ever said you mean rotten person.....

better? :)

I had terrible side effects from Adipex. It was AWFUL!! I turned into a horrible monster. (Of course some say I still am, but that is another story. ;) ) Really, the mood swings were very bad. I was irritable and angry all the time which then alternated with periods of depression. My experience with diet pills was not good and I won't do them again.
