Has anyone ever requested a specific room?

We are leaving TOMORROW for BWV/WDW!!! Last year we stayed in room 5009 or 5007, can't remember which but is a 2 BR lockoff. We loved this location. Yes, it was a loooooonnnnnggg walk down those halls (almost at the end) but we loved the view of Epcot fireworks and also MK fireworks. This year we are taking my mom & brother (who don't get all the hype) so we booked 2 BR BWV with boardwalk view, I would love to be able to get this same location & view. Should I fax or call to see if maybe these 2 rooms are available or should I just wait until we get there and see what is available then. I wonder if most people request to be closer to elevators, etc. and maybe the farther rooms will more likely be available. I don't know how busy it is there right now either. What are your opinions?

We were directed NOT to fax or call ahead, so I'd just wait until you get there and see if it's open. I wouldn't worry about always staying in the same room either. We loved our first DVC room as well, but since then, we have had dozens of other great ones that we wouldn't have ever seen if we had requested the same one all the time.

I think if you keep the request general, you have a better chance than asking for a specific room. Ask for "away from the elevators" and hopefully things will work out. No matter what, you are guaranteed that great view of Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk, so you are in great shape before you even get there! :)

The only time I ever requested a specific room, it was 3023 or 4023, which are the corner rooms near the pond facing the parking lot. We ended up in the last room on the floor, next to Jellyrolls, couldn't have been farther away.
