I've gone on the fairytale wedding site, but it seems to me you must stay at a hotel for 4 night min. for all their plans. DH & I would like to stay using our dvc points at a dvc resort, but still have an intimate vow renewal ceremony.
Has anyone done this? If so, how did you go about it? If you would like feel free to email me with info. I would appreciate it. We are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary Nov. 13, 2007.

I wanted to have a Fairy Tale wedding but it didn't work out. Now since we own DVC when we want to renew our vows I know we won't want to go the fairy tale route. My plan is to get a studio for our minister that married us (a friend of the family), if he is willing to come along, have him perform the ceremony, and have his family have a great rest of the week on their own. I am going to pick a spot at BWV and hopefully be able to make arrangements with the resort itself to allow us to have the space for a little bit. But knowing how crazy I am I will probably ask them to let us have the deck at the top of the clown slide and hubby and I will get to make a grand entrance sliding down it afterward!

Good luck! Sorry I don't have advice to offer!

The Fairytale weddings are so nice! We did the intimate wedding back before the wedding pavilion was even built. Not sure how it will work with DVC, but sending congratulations and a little pixie dust your way! :wizard:

We also bought our ministers' family with us and spent a wonderful week with them and the last night we just went outside and had them renew our vows. They are husband and wife ministers and it was really special.

We are hoping the priest that married us 25 years ago can preform the ceremony. I figure we will provide his accomodations for the weekend. I am praying this is going to be able to happen. He is active in the Coast Guard and recently got a huge promotion. It just wouldn't be the same without him.
He used to travel alot being a chaplain in the CG, so keeping in touch with him has been difficult. I always wait to get his Christmas card then address his according to his return address. lol
I hope this can work out. I am a strong believer of it being about the "marriage" not the "wedding/ceremony", but I would like it to have a bit of the the Disney magic in it.

I just wanted to say "hi" to disneybride96 - my husband and I were married here in Indiana on 11/2/91 and then honeymooned at WDW! Not as cool as actually being married at WDW, but still pretty great! :)

Congratulations on your upcoming 10th anniversary!

OP: Sorry I don't have any advice, either. But I wish you the best! If you figure out a way to make this happen, please share. :goodvibes

I just called disney weddings and asked if I can get the intimate wedding vow renewal if I stay at a dvc using points. The nice gentleman I spoke with, Matt, informed me that I could.
Thanks to everyone.

I always thought it would be cool to have a vow renewal at VB out on the croquet lawn or on the beach....

According to posts on the Weddings and Honeymoons board, DVC room nights count toward the Fairytale Weddings room night minimum for couples and their guests.

Well I'm really glad to hear this information also, as DH and I plan to renew our vows in Disney, since we didn't have our wedding there. So for our 10th anniversay we decided to renew. I will have 5 more years to wait on the 22nd of September. We were actually glad we decided to do our wedding in our home town since we were married 11 days after 9/11. We were lucky enough to get all of our family and friends in from out of town for our big day. One of my sisters and both of DH's sisters were flying from the west coast. So we will at least get our vow renewal at Disney!!!!

I got married at The Attic at BW in July '05. (It was supposed to be Sea Breeze Point but it rained). I was an intimate with just DH and I. Used my DVC points and stayed at SSR.

You might want to check out the wedding board here on the DIS. They are a great bunch of ladies who know EVERYTHING about Disney weddings.

One thing I did learn is that you really do not want to do a wedding on Disney property without DFTW knowing...outside at least. You can be asked to leave the property. Some people use a Grand Villa and do it there but anything outside is risky...especially if you ask before and they say no (which they most definitely will!)

Check out the wedding board...they know a lot there and they can expand on what I just explained.

Congrats to you and hope you have fun planning your vow renewal. It's always so wonderful to see a couple reaffirming their love after so many years. I hope you have a wonderful time and service.

BTW, I was totally in the dark about Disney's Intimate Vow Renewals until you posted this question. I am now actually thinking about this for our 20th anniversary in '08.

We renewed our vows on our 10th anniversary at Vero Beach. It was supposed to be held on the croquet lawn, but it rained all week so we had to move it inside to a private function room in the hallway where Shutters is located. My husband (who surprised me with this!) contacted the resort directly, and they were wonderful. They put him in contact with a Justice of the Peace, florist, etc., and helped to arrange everything. We also had dinner with our family (12 of us in all were on the trip) in a private room. They helped my husband select the meal, and even had a small wedding cake for us. The whole event including dinner cost around $1,500 and was absolutely beautiful.

It's so funny you mentioned this. DH and I were just talking last night about staying a VB for 2 nights during our vow renewal vacation. We were trying to decide whether it should be at the beginning or the end.
How sweet of your DH to plan this all. I keep telling my DH, he better propose to me or else I might not say I do this time. lol He's not very romantic, but I love him anyway.

Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary, Deesknee! My DH and I celebrated our 25th last year with a custom VR. We used our DVC points for the whole family...an OKW GV, 2 bedroom, and 8 studios! ( That was some serious banking and borrowing. ) The Disney folks made it the most wonderful experience for us. Best of luck on your planning.

Mary, your pictures are beautiful. The flower girls are adorable. Where is the picture of you and the cake taken?
You and your husband look so happy. You look to be a fun loving couple. Congratulations.
I don't think we will be able to do anything that big. We are hoping for an intimate VR. Just us our 4 children and our Priest. Perhaps our parents. Although, I would love to do something like yours. Do you mind me asking, is that the same gown you wore originally? Someone suggested I do that. I was thinking a tea length, (since it is going to be so small).

Thanks, Deesknee! The flowergirls are the daughters of my original flowergirl ( and niece ) at our wedding lo those many years ago! The pictures with the cake were taken in The Attic at the Boardwalk where our reception was held. My original wedding dress had long sleeves and a high neck. Our wedding took place in summer but it was in the San Francisco bay area, so the weather was cool. June in Orlando is another story! At first, I was going to wear something simpler, but then, we decided to do the photos in front of the Castle...I just had to go with the big dress and tiara! LOL. We really did have a fantastically fun time. It was a dream come true!

Good for you!!! I wish...... ah, but I'm lucky to be able to have this intimate. After 12years the kids were old enough for me to return to work, and low and behold we brought back a little souvenier from our WDW trip 4years ago. So back to being a stay at home mom. Maybe for our 50th! lol

That is so awesome that you had your original flower girl's daughters as your
VR flower girls! Well, your VR looks beautiful! Congratulations!
