OKW is a resort of 2-Bdrms.
with 274 dedicated 2-Bdrms and 230 lockoffs, that's over 500 2-Bdrms!
it seems like there'd always be a 2-Bdrm available, right?

so, i was curious if anyone has ever NOT been able to book a 2-Bdrm on short notice at OKW?
if so, can you share what that circumstance was?

Not sure how "short notice" this is in the grand scheme of things, but last year we booked a two bedroom at OKW for the last week in April/first of May. It was well after Easter and not a super busy time at the parks. We made the reservation in early or mid February.

On the contrary, last May we needed another couple of days vacation. We got a 2 bdrm at OKW the night before and got it. We were even able to check in at 10 AM!!!

December - short notice tried in Sept for an unplanned December trip - had to stay at the Polyn for the same amount of points for a 2-bedroom (this was before the increase for the WDW resorts)

the first two weeks of December is very, very popular for DVC members - so I would expect it to stay pretty busy at the DVC resorts - the parks are just about empty. that is why I am afraid that DVC will readvise the points for that time period. that is what happened last time - they changed December, Sept and Jan and gave them to the summer.

my brother one year needed to change this vacation from June to the first week of July - no problem during it a week before his arrival.

spiceycat, that Sept did you try to waitlist for the Dec rooms? or did you just give up on OKW and book Poly instead of waiting around to see?

I had told some people we would meet them - so I couldn't wait list and hope - I remember calling back and some 1-bedroom did free up - but I don't think any 2-bedrooms did. Of course I don't really remember if I even asked about the 2-bedrooms at that point - I was pretty mad because I had gone and used the points at the Polyn. Of course the Polyn stay was wonderful - they gave us a lagoon view - so we saw the castle every morning and evening - and you could see the fireworks and the EWP from our room as well.

But as mother said, "I miss OKW" - we had trouble with the heating/air-conditioning system the entire time.

I was booking in January for relatives to travel this month. They first had me book toward the end of the month and I had to wait while the CM got permission to move some things around and then he was able to give me my 5 nights. I had to cancel those dates and re-book for a stay starting this coming Sunday. At that time, the CM told me I was getting the last 2 bedroom. In both cases, no lock-offs were available.

I got a two bedroom for Easter Sunday night in the Middle of February with no problem. I was then waitlisted for the next two nights in just a One bedroom (guests were only staying with us for one night) and the wait list came through within 2 days.

I have never ever had a problem not getting a waitlisted room at OKWest. Even at the hight of holiday season.
