Would be interested to hear if anyone has driven to DLP from the UK, how did you find it and what was the easiest way to get there??

Lisa

We have driven from home via Dover, Rosyth, Folkstone.

Although dearest ferry was from Rosyth this was the most enjoyable as it was overnight and part of a longer holiday with MIL/FIL who had never been abroad.
Dover was fine although we needed two overnight stop to get to ferry terminal. Calais to DLP is a breeze IMHO :)

April will be our third time driving down and DW is even talking about driving over there.

We've gone and are going again via the tunnel, quick and easy, 30 minutes and you are through. As Reid said the drive from Calais to DLP is a breeze, empty roads pretty much til you reach CDG but still a lot better than the UK

I've driven twice.

Once on Eurotunnel and once on P&O Ferrys.

I prefer the Ferry going and on the way back I prefer the Tunnel for speed so next time I might mix them.

I get a bit cold in the tunnel the instructions tell you to open all sun roofs, thing is my car has a full length glass roof that folds open.

Thanks for the tips. How long rougly is the drive from once you get off the Tunnell crossing to reaching your DLP resort??

Also when you saying the drive from the Tunnel to DLP is a breeze do you really mean this, I am a little worried as all the signs will be in French so we wont understand anything. I've driven in Orlando so driving on the other side of the road isn't a problem, im just worried about the signs, lol

To reach DLP 3 to 3 1/2 hours will more than cover it.

Although road signs are in French the main routes are well sign posted and easily followed.

Thanks for that.

Is there any easy way to search for a route or do I just do a search on something like multi-map?

The channel tunnel website has a great link to the Mitchelin (not sure it is spelt right) route planner.

Would recommend having a good map Michelin are the best IMHO. We drive to France most years for our hols

We drove home from DLp last June to Calais & it took less than 3 hrs. The only heavy traffic will be around Paris & CDG airport.

On our way home we broke up our journey & stayed in a travel lodge & would do this again on both journeys next visit. If you look on their web site you can usualy get a good deal. The 4 of us stayed for £26

If you've time Calais is worth stopping off in for shopping.

The AA do a good route finder, can start at Calais and will take you in detail to DLP.
When I said a breeze I really did mean it but I do have the benefit of sat nav!
We found the signs a good way to pass the time trying to guess what they meant! Luckily this year DD has been taking French and was awarded student of the month yesterday  , so a lot of pressure on her 12 year old shoulders!
