We just found out that friends are visiting DW at the same time we are at DL. It sure would be fun to pick a ride or attraction or activity and share it at the same time. Has anyone ever tried this or have ideas about what would work well or would not work well?

I have never thought of this but it sounds like fun!

My DSis and her DH were at WDW recently and while they were there we visited DLR one day. But we didn't ride the same ride at the same time.

What a great idea! We have APs on both coasts and duh, have never thought to do this. Rides that might be fun to do at the same time:

1. Tower of Terror (try to time getting to the ride at the same time)
2. Splash Mountain (slow enough to chat on the phone about the ride assuming you're not bothering other people)
3. Soarin (so that technically you're flying together)

Tried it on small world at Christmas this year but lost signal in the ride

Thanks for the replies!

Great suggestions. I especially like the Soarin idea:)

That's good to think about. I'll have to remember all the rides where people have been embarrassed by a phone call half way through the ride. Those are the ones that still have signals.

We'll definitely have to have a discussion about what rides they like.
I did think about the train. Maybe we could do a Grand Circle Tour together. It has been a while since I've been to DW, so I'm not sure if the tracks are the same length.....I bet I could find that info somewhere.

I also thought about just walking up Main Street together or a special snack at the same time.

I'd love to hear more ideas or experiences!

What a brilliant and fun idea! I think the circle tour on the train is a pretty good one, though the departure times probably won't be identical. You could text in any ride that's not too dark without disturbing people...except those who think you're silly to be watching a screen in the most magical place on Earth, LOL. (I wouldn't talk on a phone in a ride unless you're the only ones on it, like if you have your own log in Splash Mountain...which I think might be hard in WDW?)

Autopia...wait, is it illegal to use your cell and drive at the same time in CA? :rotfl: Dumbo could probably work, though it wouldn't be that exciting.

I got no cell reception (several years ago with a pretty cruddy phone) at all in Soarin' in DL, but others might have better luck.

If you're really close friends, I wouldn't discount the fun of catching up somewhere other than a ride--like sharing a meal (eating a hot dog or popcorn on Main Street?) or even just hanging out on Tom Sawyer's Island "together".

Have a great trip!

Thanks for your comments and suggestions:)

You are right. We'll have to watch out for CA specific rules. LOL

We have been friends since 7th grade and which was a "few" years ago, and we don't get to see each other often enough, so this might just work out great. Maybe we could even take a pic or video to send each other while doing this.....so many ideas. I'll keep working on it and post to let anyone who's interested know how it went.
Have a great trip!

Oh, pictures! Can you get pictures in (more or less) the same places? In front of the same attractions/etc.? And/or with the same characters? Would be fun to trade them, IMO, and I think the locations, at least, might be easy. :) You might even be able to scrapbook or frame some of the pictures together.

Have a great time!

In considering rides that might work, is there a ride similar to Mickey's Fun Wheel at DW? On that ride, no one would be disturbed :) unless my friend is one of those that calls it Mickey's Wheel of Death. :)

Haaaa! :rotfl:

I've only been to WDW for 2 days spread over 3 parks (!)...As far as I know, there's nothing like the Fun Wheel in WDW. The folks on the WDW boards might have some ideas for you, though.

You might be able to get on/near the Mark Twain Steamboat at the same time.

We're arranging a meet at the Tiki Birds....Dole Whips here we come.... We're so excited!:dance3:

If you both have Smartphones, you could use somethink like Qik that does luve video streaming. Or Skype for live video chats.

I like this idea.

Thanks,
These are good ideas as well:)

I don't know when your trip is but remember that Tiki is closed at WDW right now...

ducky_love,

Thanks so much for the info! Looks like we already get to tweak our "plan."

We'll have to keep our Mickey Ears on and come up with an alternative.

Small World might be a good idea.

I have thought about several rides, but don't want to disturb others and someone mentioned that phone reception might be a problem.:(
So, i think the current plan is to call when we arrive at DL that morning, and then just "play it by ear."
It will be fun just to know we are both getting to enjoy our "Worlds" at the same time.......It's just been fun planning for the event.

Maybe try to get Main Street singers or piano players to perform the same song at the same time? They'd probably get a kick out of it if you told them what you're doing!

 Love the thought.
Very Interesting....might have to work on that one. We will be mid summer, so it might be pretty hard to make a request....might work better in the slow season, but we might just give it a try.

I'm thinking pictures with Walt and Mickey would also be in order.
