Has anyone ever called and said they'll cancel unless they get a discount?

Not sure what you're talking about - these are the discounts offered last year during your time period and have been offered the past few years.

Do you know what the blackout dates were for these specials?

CMs no longer have pin info in front of them. If you get a pin, you have to give it to them and they check it against your name.
The reservations agents were getting so many calls with people asking about a possible pin, they no longer can bring up this info independently.

That's what I thought too, but according to a bunch of people lately the CM's told them they had pins for future discounts that were not active yet. They were instructed to call back 7/13 and in some cases were given the actual pins and codes.

That's wonderful news! The powers that be must have changed the process again.

i am going to give this a try...

i already have AKL booked for 5 days...room only...FD is not a huge benefit to us....i have run the numbers...but also have the recipie club discount booked for the Dolphin at 149 for Nov. 3-8....in case any out there did not know about this discount....so i am probably going to cancel my AKL room unless i get at least 40% off....even then, it is a hard sell given how we love the Dolphin's proximinty etc...sure it is not on property but we have been enough that we can do on and off activities etc...was thinking about an AP pass but wow do those seem to be not as good as they used to be....gone are they days of the AP lounge at the Land among other goodies...

:confused3
I have gotten irritated about the whole PIN receiving/not receiving issue, but regardless I was going to Disney. If that meant 1 or 2 less days or staying at a value or moderate instead of a moderate or deluxe then that is what needs to be done. Disney does NOT have to offer discounts period to anyone. I have worked retail, food, hospitality, banking etc.,. and I am sooooooooooooo tired of people trying to get something they cannot afford for free or at a discount by complaining. Booking a vacation at a resort you know you cannot afford unless you get a discount and then complaining about a discount not being offered is a bit ridiculous, nobody spends that much time in their rooms anyway. Stay cheaper and if you happen to get a discount then upgrade........don't get the upgrade BEFORE you get the discount.

I agree! Book what you can afford, and be happy. Stop looking to see if someone got what you got cheaper, because all you are doing is making yourself miserable.

the above dates don't show the blackout periods.

FD is already out for Jersey week and it's blacked out. That week was also blacked out for the Monster pin.

I was sent a Free Dining Pin in Feb for Aug-Oct. I booked and also linked my aunt and her family to my pin so they received the discount. My parents were not sure if they wanted to go but a few weeks later decided that they would but my PIN was expired for free dining. Then a few months later free dining was announced to the general public and I called and applied it to their reservation, just make sure if you get wind of any pin, call early in the morning and apply it as they only allow a certain amount of rooms to be attached to that pin. So say you are saying a WL and they only have 500 rooms attached to that pin, once those 500 rooms are booked then you won't be able to get that discount. GL, but I wouldn't cancel, downgrade perhaps (not sure where your staying) but not cancel.

Raises hand...that's what happened. I called to check on FD last week and was told my dates were blacked out. CM put me on hold and then came back and told me to book, but call back on 7/13 because I had a pin attached but it wasn't active until then (today). Today I had the pin applied and all is right with (my) world.

This is the first I have ever heard of being able to pass along a pin code to someone else. Are you sure this is right? I would hate for you all to show up and they only honor the discount for you.

I know I don't know all the ins and outs, but I never knew you could do that.

yup, she was linked to my pin, I could have linked another family too (allowed 3 rooms total). We are all paid up, they are staying @ POR and we are staying @ CBR, they have their reservation conf. # and I have mine both with FD and the adjusted rate. We are leaving in a little over a month.
