SSB has always "thought" would be a very neat thing, and have yammered about it over the years. Well, turns out that Trina (DG) gives SSB a gift certificate for us to go up on New Years Day... :O

Now, starting to fret just a tad, as have always said that I would list skydiving as the very LAST thing that SSB would ever do, due to not liking that falling sensation. OK with roller coasters and such, so "hoping" will translate to this... but seems like they go WAY UP... haha!!!

Has anyone been?

Hoping to take photos along the way, and to survive to post later... ;)

YES!!! You'll love it!! No falling sensation that I can recall. It was smooth, slow and so peaceful... similar to floating. Wonderful! ENJOY!!

I can't stand heights but this looks so beautiful and peaceful to me. I can't wait to hear what you think about it.

OMG!! That sounds like so much fun! You are going to have a blast! Definitely take pictures.

I few hot air balloons for a company commercially for about 2 years.. quite a few years ago. It's a GREAT experience. Have a great time!!

My DH is EXTREMEMLY afraid of heights and he loves hot air ballooning. We went on a hot air balloon ride over Orlando a few years ago and I couldn't believe how peaceful it is. Have a great time.

That is so cool! What a great gift!

Don't forget the camera. We will all be waiting for pictures.

I have never been on one so you have to survive so I can hear all about it!! :)

I hope you and Trina have a super great time and I am looking forward to the pictures! Uppp Uppp and Awayyyyyy. :teeth:

I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in one of the annual "Great Ballon Races" in St. Louis Forest Park a couple of years ago.

Now THAT was an experience. I got to take off to thousands of people cheering!!!

No falling sensation at all. In fact it is weird because you are traveling with the wind so you feel nothing!!! Not at all what you expect.

Have FUN!!!!

I won a ride when I was like 13, it was 2nd place too..hanggliding was first (I sure am happy I got 2nd) It was awesome, beautiful and like someone said you feel like your floating. The guy told me i could grab some leaves off the top of some trees when we were near a lake but I declined...

That sounds so fun! Have a great time, SSB. I can't wait to see the pictures of you and the lovely Trina. :goodvibes

I went last summer during our local hot air balloon festival. It was incredible!!! You're going to love it.

I went in Sept. 2004 and it was exhilerating. I was amazed at how smooth the take-off and ride was. Landing was a bit more dramatic. There was no feeling of vertigo, even when peering over the side of the basket. It was so unbelieveably calm that it didn't seem real. The conditions were perfect and we traveled several miles before the impending darkness ended our journey. You will love it!
