Made our fastpass ressies last week. Hubby doesn't ride a lot of the things the rest of us do. He has a few fastpasses where he will do 2 rides, but not the 3rd. Can he just scan his MB and leave the line? I just want all ressies done about the same time so we can all (hopefully) move on to a 4th fp.

Absolutely, even if he can't just turn around there, most all rides have a "Chicken Exit" as a last second escape for people who change their minds at the loading stations.

He should be able to do this without a problem! My mother is the one in my family that doesn't enjoy thrill rides, but she's gone through some of the queues with us, like Tower of Terror and Everest, just to see the theming. As the previous post states, all attractions have some sort of last-minute exit for those who choose not to ride.

Another alternative is for those riding to go on the ride; then one who really likes the ride can take your husband's MB and get a second ride right after. That way the FP doesn't go to waste, and it only adds about 20 minutes depending on the ride. Just make sure you start the process at the beginning of your FP window.

I was thinking that he would just scan and turn around. I haven't been to WDW since they started MB and FP+ and assume the scanners are at the beginning of the line.

I had thought of this. My daughter suggested splitting up the riders 2 and 2 (so none of us rides alone) and one of us rides a second time on husband's magic band.

...

FP+ lines have a beginning tapstile then another one at the end of the FP+ line - I don't know what scanning at only the beginning of the line would do in the system if there were no corresponding scan at the end of the line. We need more information about the system from someone who tried what you want to do. (We just swapped MBs and let the kids ride again what DH and I did not want to ride.)

I didn't know that there are 2 scanners. So the 2nd scanner is near to or where you get on the ride? It makes more sense to swap out his MB.

Yes. This is to stop people jumping into the FPP line (which is possible on some rides) after the first scanner. I saw someone do it on ToT. When he didn't get through the second scanner and played dumb I politely explained it was because he had jumped the line earlier on. The CM told me after it happens a lot.

Same scenario and reasoning of having a CM take up legacy FP right before/close to vehicle loading. It's to prevent people jumping the line like PP said
