I am curious what your opinion is, and whether the next time would you get it again, or would you bring your own and pay the corkage?

Can you remind me of what the corkage is?

Thanks.

The corkage was $15 when we cruised. We bought the premium package. It is a good deal compared to the list price of DCL bought by the bottle. The major problem with the list is that there is only one of each varietal, and the varietals are not particularly "creative". One Cabernet, one Merlot, one Chardonnay, etc. If you want really good, or unusual wines, you may be better off bringing your own. We just couldn't face schlepping the stuff on board. We did bring some "better" stuff that we opened in the cabin and poured ourselves when hanging out on deck. Palo has a better selection of interesting stuff. We probably will get the package again. Barb's site has the packages and prices:

Abitjaded - I looked at Barb's site and wondered about whether there was only one bottle of each varietal available.

The wines on the regular wine list are more to my liking, but having spent too many years in California, I still get significant sticker shock when it comes to wine.

I think we will end up bringing our own - we are pretty much Cab drinkers with a dry white on occasion. If I were to go to our local wine store with the premium package price limit, less the corkage fees, I could probably have some fun!!

Thanks.

The wine list itself, however, has many choices. And btw, there are 2 lists, the regular one, and a special one that you have to ask your server for.

Since I drink white and DH drinks red, we decided to skip the package and order a la carte. We ended up buying 5 bottles and probably spent $40 per bottle on average. We had some very nice wines in that price range; the only one I remember was a very nice Sancerres.

We also brought some special champagne with us that we drank on our verandah. We requested ice & a wine bucket & 2 flutes, and room service brought this for no charge. We just did not want to carry more than the 1 bottle on the plane. Even though we knew we could do better buying our own at home, we just couldn't bring ourselves to carry on all that wine!
