Has anyone done the Kids Tea Party @ GF?

If you have done the Tea Party for your child can you share your thoughts, I'm thinking of taking my 5 year old Daughter.

My daughter did this on 8/8/02 and really enjoyed it - here's the portion of our trip report that describes the basics:

"It was about 11:30 and Cary had a date with Alice for tea at 1:30 so we exited the park and headed for the Grand Floridian by monorail. We went to their snack bar and got fast food for lunch. That occupied most of the time before the 1:15 check-in time for tea. We checked in Cary and then headed out to the pool bar at the GF to relax for the hour of freedom we had. Cary had a great time at the tea. They had a cupcake, apple juice, and chicken nuggets and spent some time with Alice and the Mad Hatter. When we went back to get her, she had flowers for us and they gave each kid a picture they took of the child with the two characters."

My daughter had just turned 6 - the cast members running it were very nice and after we checked Cary in and got our beeper the kids watched movies until it was time to start. I hope this helps. Amy aka Cary's Mom

Our DD 5 at the time did this in December and enjoyed herself too BUT as far as I know they do NOT provide a picture anymore and I had heard about this and sent in a disposible camera with my DD and they took one picture of my DD with both Alice and the Mad Hatter.

So if you'd like a picture send in a camera.

I didn't think they still did it either but when we picked her up she did have a small bouquet of flowers and a picture - and that was only three weeks ago - Amy aka Cary's Mom

My granddaughter went to the Tea Party in December. She was five at the time. She loved it. We gave her a disposable camera to use and she really did a good job. Last week I told her we would be doing another family trip in the spring and the first thing she said to me is "Can I go to the Tea Party again?" I highly recommend it. By the way, if you can't get reservations before you go, when you check in, ask about it. I wasn't able to get them before we went and when we checked in I inquired and there had been a cancellation so she got to go.

My DD went 2 years ago, when she was 6. She LOVED it! It was around Christmas, so she dressed in her red Minnie Christmas dress, with her tights and black dress shoes. Not all of the kids were dressed up, though! (If your DD is into dressing in costume, there is a cute Alice In Wonderland costume in the Disney Catalog this year). Many of the kids just came straight from the parks in their shorts, so pretty much, anything goes.

They did some arts and crafts, Alice read a story, they decorated cupcakes for the teaparty, and had their pictures taken with Alice and (in DD's case) the Mad Hatter--- the pictures are included in the price of the Tea party. The Dormouse was there, as well, and sat next to DD the whole time, which made her day. Ages 4-6 are really the perfect ages for this. You drop the kids off, and have to sign them in, and are given identification in order to claim them at the end of the party. The CM's are just terrific with them! While our DD was there, we wandered around the GF and had a drink by the pool. I am sure she will love it!

My DD has done the tea three times - she LOVES it there!!! It is really a lot of fun for the kids - you get to decorate your own cupcake, and Allison was very excited to tell me that you use your finger as the knife to spread your icing!!!

We went have a drink by the pool one time, and the other times, we have lunch at the GF Cafe - when the Tea is over, we just went get her and brought her to our table!

I would highly recommend the Tea Party for the kids!!!

From your post I gather that you believe that you will be attending the Tea Party. It is for the Kids only. No parents are allowed.


My 4 DD and 10 DNi attended the Tea Party in May. They both really enjoyed it very much.
Don't worry about leaving your DD at the tea party. You are given a beeper and can look around the GF while you wait. My mother and I had Tea at the Garden View lounge ( a good option for mothers and daughters if you don't want to leave them alone for the tea party) while we waited for the girls. Since the GVL doesn't open until 2, you might be a little pushed for time to finish your tea. My DH, DSi and her DF went to get DD and DNi. They finished their lunch before we finished out tea. OF course my mother eats very slow, so that did contribute to the length of our tea.

My two daughters (3.5 and 5.5) just did the Alice Tea Party two weeks ago.

They both ended up loving it, but the 3 year old started to cry when we left. The CM's were fantastic, and redirected her attention immediately, and helped her get settled. (We sneaked out of the room, and peeked through the windows until she calmed down). She is usually good in these situations, but had been a bit under the weather the previous day.

We took our beeper and headed to the GF Cafe for a wonderful and QUIET lunch! My wife went back once to check on them, and they were both having a great time.

We headed back to pick them up, and they had a GREAT time. The 3 year old was falling all over herself to tell us all the fun things she did and saw. They each had a bouquet of flowers for us, and each had a small folder with a picture of them with Alice and the Mad Hatter. (So the pictures seem to be back) We had sent in a disposable camera, but still don't have the pictures back yet.

The GF staff is fantastic with the kids and both girls want to do the pirate cruise and adventures in cooking on a future trip.

Our DD Ali is Alice sometimes at this tea party, and she LOVES it! She says the kids always have fun, although some are afraid of the Mad Hatter because he can be over the top. She says yes, they do take pictures of each child, and the kids have name tags so she and MH can call them by name as they have their tea. She says it is one of the VERY few times a character can eat, and they have cupcakes, little sandwiches, and apple juice before playing a game and taking the pictures. DD has been doing this a lot lately, so we hope she was one of the ones receiving the kind comments. Apparently,it is so much fun the cast's enthusiasm reaches the kids!

They did not provide the free picture when my DD and DNi were there in May. They did however get the flowers.

Micca, thanks for sharing that! How exciting that your daughter is sometimes "Alice"!

Our DD had a great time this past December at the Tea Party. Then right after it, we ran over to MK to see the new parade and Alice and the Mad Hatter recognized our DD and said a special hello to her from their spot in the parade! We got it on video too!

It's nice that they were the 'same' characters as the Tea Party as my daughter is very aware of things now that she's 6 years old!

Does your daughter ever do this in the parade or anywhere else or just at the Tea Party??

Our Alice is sometimes in the parade, does some character breakfasts including the new Princess breakfast at Akershus(even though Alice is not a princess). She is also shall we say, extremely close to Mickey and Minnie so they spend time together on some days.
