Has anyone done the 7 day Caribbean cruise?

We did the 7 day cruise last May and loved it. Personally I don't think you can compare it to staying at a DVC resort - they are so different, but both great.

We haven't gotten seasick, but two of the nights the boat was rocking and some people were. I would suggest that if you think you might to talk to you doctor beforehand as their are things you can take like the patch etc.

Disney will now offer two different 7 day offerings - one for Eastern and one Western.

The one we went on was the Eastern and had 3 wonderful days at Sea to just relax and enjoy the ship and the spa.

You don't have the room you have at a DVC resort and of course you don't have a kitchen area. What you do have is all your meals included, shows included, movies included, and the ultimate ability to get away from it all.

Add to that the magic of Disney and you have a great vacation.

This may we're doing a little bit of both by taking the 4-day Wonder cruise and then spending a couple days at the Villas of Wilderness Lodge.

Good question for the cruise boards. I'm sure you will get all the information you need about cruising there.

We did the 7 day cruise in Oct. 2001. We used points to cruise and just LOVED it. My husband "tolerated" my Disney obsession and has always thought of our DVC membership as "my" thing. He goes on some trips with me to Disney, but not all. We did this cruise on our 11th anniversary.

He was blown away! Just loved it! He never had much interest in how the DVC worked, but went to 2 DVC open house meetings on the cruise. It was HIS IDEA to add on 100 points, so we now own at BWV AND VWL! We hope to cruise every 2-3 years.

Ed is right. If you have any detailed questions about cruising, you will definitely get good answers at the Cruise Board. For opinions on how it compares to other DVC exchanges, you will get responses from here and at the cruise board.

Being a past cruiser, I definitely think it was well worth the points. I did get seasick the first day of my first cruise, but I took this "Wonder" drug called Meclazine and was fine for the rest of that cruise and on the next two cruises.

We just returned from the 7 might cruise on March 2. WOW!!!
We love our resort stays, but the two are completely different.
For us, the biggest difference was hoew the relaxing the cruise is. We always rush rsuh rsuh at WDW to fit it ALL in (maybe that's just us.... We DD is 5 and DS is 3 so they loved hanging out at the club. It was tough to get DD out of the club. We're still planning on a resort stay next...you can't go wrong either way.

PS --we had no seasickness

Was the wonder drug something that you could get on-board? Or is it something you need to get via a prescription beforehand?

Over the counter. Its generic name is Meclizine. The name brand product is called Bonine. If you are prone to motion sickness (I am a Reading in the Car type motion sickness) take the first pill about 2:00 PM on the day you disembark. Then one a day there after.

We cruised 12/01 and are hooked.
We have a 3 day booked for Sept. and I just don't think it will be long enough...but I'll try it. ;)

Most relaxing vacation we have ever taken. Boy, do they know how to pamper you.

We sailed 7 days on fall special 2 years ago and it was WELL worth it. Comparing to a DVC room is unfair because you are comparing SO much more for the cruise. We will do it again in a year or 2.

Danicaw-we did the 3 day last Sept. preceeded by a day at WLV followed by several days back at WLV and that made for a longer trip but the 3 day was really just too short. It was something we wanted to do; to see the Wonder vs. the Magic, & to see Nassau. But we will never do it again. Just too short. But definately worth it once.

Last summer we did 5 days at BWV followed by a 7-day Disney cruise and ending with a week back at BWV. Wonderful vacation all around. However, this year we're doing the resort stay prior to the cruise. As said in a previous post, totally different types of vacations. We're opting to do the resort beforehand so that at the end we can relax and be pampered with the cruise. The points are the only way this family of 5 can do such vacations.
