We are planning to extend our vacation for one more day after the cruise by going to the parks on Saturday. We figure if we jump off as soon as cleared by customs and get to rental car, we can be in park by 10:00 a.m.

We then wouldn't fly home until Sunday. Thought it would be a good day to add one more day in the park without missing any more school (we are flying down Thursday night and spending Friday at WDW before cruise).

Has anyone done this? Is it just too much overload after relaxation of cruise?

Just wondering. Everyone here has such great ideas I thought I would just ask.

We were off the ship, and in our rental car heading towards Orlanod at 8:40 on Sat. a.m. (I skipped breakfast and finished our carry-on packing while dh took kids to Topsiders). We stopped at AKL to meet friends and were in the Magic Kingdom around 11 a.m.

We spent Sunday doing Animal Kingdom and flew out mid-morning on Monday.

This year we're doing MK again and then we'll probably fly home Sunday (have school this year, last year mine were both too young for schooL). I think we're going to shoot for mid/late afternoon so we can do the pool in the morning.

It's an awesome way to finish the trip and keeps you from being totally depressed getting off the ship.

We're spending that Sat in Orlando "doing something" as our plane doesnt leave until 7pm. (We ea have a park hopper left from last year, maybe I should bring them just in case - Dont tell DH).
As soon as we return from the cruise, Im booking our first trip "home" to Wilderness Lodge for next Oct 04.

Yes. A warning however: don't try to cram too much into a one-day visit. You'll end up feeling as though you never had a vacation...

When we got off our 7 day cruise, we checked into the WL and just relaxed on Saturday. We rode bicycles, walked, napped, spent time at the pool, and had dinner at Disney downtown. Very relaxing. Then on Sunday, we went to Animal Kingdom and EPCOT. Flew out on Monday morning.

This was a great ending to our cruise. We didn't feel rushed and was quite relaxed. I don't know if I would have liked going to a park on Saturday, but it's definitely a personal decision.

We always do the parks on the Sat and try to do Sun before we fly out. However, we are always really tired and really full, so it is not the experience we normally have. It is still really great, but you are looking for the rides that you can "ride" for a longer amount of time (i.e. Small World, WDW Railroad, etc.) and you avoid most food establishments! LOLOL

Have a great cruise and a fun time at the parks!

We are a family who LOVES WDW but a few years ago
we sailed on the three day (never again, too short) and
went to WDW for a few hours before catching the Auto Train.
NO ONE had any interest in being in the park (have a teenager
and 9 yr. old) - we didn't want to face crowds or stand in
line. We were really depressed getting off the ship and
WDW just didn't do it for us. BUT, that is the ONLY time in
our lives we had no interest in the parks.

That reminds me...As nice as the CMs in the parks can be, they seem almost rude in comparison to how you have been treated all week.

You end up *looking* for the magic....

But you do spend the whole day going, "Remember when Istvan brought that huge plate of blah blah blah!"

That's what we're doing in August. I didn't want to rush off the boat and back to the airport so we are going to WDW (DS wants to see if Carousel of Progress, Timekeeper and Mission Space are open). Then maybe we will do Universal Sunday morning before flying out 6:00 pm.

We were there in January so I think we will just try to get in the rides we missed then.

We're planning on that Sat. going to Univ. Studios when we debark, with a stay that nite at Portofino Bay on site. We will then head home the next day (Sun).
