Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had done two different destinations, one being WDW and another something else on the same trip.

I was figuring that since I was going to be in the Florida area so much at the end of December and first couple weeks in January, that I might split my time between WDW and maybe some place like Cancun. I would obviously do Cancun first and then fly back to Orlando and stay 4 or 5 nights at WDW.

Don't get me wrong, I had a great time in Febuary and will be going again for 5 nights in January 2006. I am just looking at all my options to see what I could do. Also, splitting my stay between the two, will cost just about the same as it would if I stayed the whole time at either one of these, so the cost really isn't a factor.

We have been doing this quite a few times.
June 2005 Princess Cruise out of Seattle, WA, then we flew to Anaheim to spend 2 nights in Disneyland before flying home to NJ.
May 2005 fly to Europe for a 10 night cruise, and go to Disneyland Paris before flying home to NJ.
Out family thinks we are nuts.

shoes99,

Thanks. I really want to do WDW again, and the only time I can do that is Dec 30 or after. However, I really want to go to a nice warm place during this time and have never been to Cancun before and really want to go. I know I can get from Chicago to Orlando pretty cheap and from Fort Lauderdale to Cancun pretty cheap. However, I haven't figured away to get from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale to catch my Cancun flight or how to get back to Orlando from Fort Lauderdale so I can do WDW on the back end. The trouble is trying to get all the times to match up right.

We do two destinations twice a year.

We go to DW for at least 5 days, usually 12 on the way to Sanibel in November and then a few days at DW on the way home.

We go back to DW for a week or so in Jan. on the way back to Sanibel and then a few days at DW on the way home in March.

This way we have the best of both worlds!!

Well, I did that scenario last year at Eastertime, but not anything as huge as a cruise or a trip to Cancun. I spent 3 nights/4 days down at Fort Myers Beach, then went up to WDW for 7 nights. I loved getting my "beach fix" and then my "Disney fix" in the same vacation! :sunny:

Thanks. I pretty much figured the resort arangements and those prices, but the airfare is what's hard to figure out. One RT would have to be Chi-ORL and another FLL-CUN, but I would some how have to get from MCO to FLL to catch my Cancun flight and that is what's I'm having problems with.

Well, 15 years ago DH and I did our honeymoon with 5 days in Bermuda and 5 days at WDW! It was a blast and was DH's first trip to WDW. (As you can see from my signature, he became a convert and we now visit WDW twice per year!)

At that time, our Chicago - Bermuda - Orlando - Chicago airfare was considered a round trip since it was booked all at once with the same airline.

This year after our family celebration at WDW my DH and I are going to Siesta Key for a week of beach time. It's a beautiful beach and a great place to wind down after Disney mania.

Since we drive down we take a 2 week vacation. Usually one week in Bonita Springs (again for some beach time) and one week at Disney.

We did Universal, Sea World and WDW on a 10 day trip last Feb. We had originally planned on doing WDW for 5 days, Universal for 3, Sea World for 1 and having 1 free day (we wound up going back to WDW).

I'd like to do the Vegas/Disneyland thing sometime.

I am with the others who throw in a Florida beach vacation at the same time. I love Florida and can never chose between disney and the beach, so we do both. I love the west coast ( Sanibal Island) the water is gorgeous! One year we did beach then disney, but were exhausted coming home. I definately recommend disney then beach... lol. :sunny:

Sometimes we do this. We go to Disney for 4-5 days, and then drive to the Gulf and visit our favorite beach destination, Siesta Key. It's in the Sarasota area. Absolutely beautiful place - white sugary sand and a charming village.

I think when Disney was planning DVC, they were anticipating that folks would do exactly this. So perhaps this is why DVC has resorts both in WDW and at Hilton Head, SC and Vero Beach, FL.

IN February '06, we're going to be starting the vacation at VB over Presidents' Day weekend. Then once the crowds die down a bit at WDW, back to BWV for the rest fo the week. That way we get the beach and WDW - two vacations in one.

We have done a split Disney vacation a few times. We always stay at Universal now for about 3 nights before WDW. One year we did a cruise before Disney. And last year we stayed at the Don CeSar in St. Pete during our Disney trip. Since we go to Disney World often, it's nice to change it up a bit.

D&R love Disney, did you enjoy the Don Cesar? We thought it was just beautiful. I loved putting up the flag on my pool side lounge chair and waiting only two minutes before a server was at my side taking our drink order!! That was a relaxing vacation.

Our honeymoon started with a few days on Captiva Island at the South Seas Plantation, then we drove up to WDW for a week at POFQ.

DH wants to see Key West, and I have convinced him that the best way is to combine the 7-day western Caribbean cruise with a WDW stay. Who knows when that will happen!

In October 2001 we spent 5 nights at WDW and then drove over to Destin, FL and spent a week at the beach. It was a nice vacation, but, being away from home for 2 weeks was hard on DD who was 4 at the time.

Personally, I'd rather take two 1-week vacations instead of 2 weeks at one time. It's nice to always have a vacation to look forward to. Unforunately, I don't have one to look forward to *this* year. I have to wait 19 months (oy!) until we go on vacation again .... back to Disney. ::MickeyMo

We are planning on going to Kennedy Space Center after we are done at Disney and spending a few days there so the kids can play on the beach and swim in the ocean.

Robinette the Don Cesar was unbelievable. The room, view and service were top notch. And yes when we were poolside we loved putting up the little flag and getting chair side service!
