Has anyone done a direct add on while already owning 2 different UY contracts?

I am in the process of closing on my second resale contract. I own 25-points March UY at HHI and soon will own 50-points October UY at BWV. At some point I want to add on at BCV and since I am looking for a veritable "unicorn" (25 points) from the resale market (I will give it a few months probably), I will most likely end up going the direct route.

My question is: Can I choose which use year for a direct add-on since I have two different ones? I do not want a March UY - October would be much better for me. HHI was my "first" contract - would that, unfortunately, take precedence? TIA!

yes.

if they have inventory in march UY and you prefer oct UY but they are sold out, you may have to go on a waiting list until they acquire the oct UY inventory (by ROFR or foreclosure).

but you can choose which contract to add-on.

We were even able to purchase a different UY than our original when we bought BLT direct (don't ask why we did that!) When our AKV resale purchase is final we'll have three UYs! :faint: Crazy DH!

Remember, two different UY's are two different memberships so it would be up to you to decide which membership you want to add on to.

This is why it won't be a problem--the only glitch, as already mentioned, is whether or not they have points in the Oct UY.

If they do and you do add on, that means that you will be able to combine the BCV points at the 7 month mark with the BWV points for a single nights reservation.

Good luck!

That's interesting. A couple of years back I asked my DVC guide and she said that we had to have the same use year as our current contract if we added on through Disney. October would work well for us, so I probably won't be looking for a third. But, if they didn't have BCV for October then I wonder if they would give us another choice (other than March)... I guess I'll find out when we've save enough for the add on...

Thanks for this. I have been wondering about that. I (think) I knew about "combining" the points at 7 months but I guess I'm not really sure what that means. Say I need 14 points for one night anywhere. I have 7 BCV points and 7 BWV points to use (already within 7 months booking) and my use years are the same month (Oct). Is this what is meant by combining? And, if so, does that mean I wouldn't be able to book one night with points from 2 different (i.e. my HHI and BWV) memberships?

You can combine the different resorts with the same UY at 7 months. Points from a different UY would need to be transfered to be combined. Transfered points keep their home resort status and UY.

Having more than one UY/membership can be done but the benefits usually do not outweigh the extra work and potential problems.

OK - thanks Bill. Now I understand "combining". So my HHI points are out in the cold unless I have enough points for individual nights (don't want to use my one time transfers since I still need those to get more points!). That's actually not so bad - I don't mind banking and borrowing those. Definitely will shoot for Oct UYs from now on though.
