Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

It took me a year to talk DH into considering letting me decorate his magic bands, so I took advantage of him being an extended business trip and painted them without consulting him. lol I did send him photos, and he loves both of them and is actually looking forward to wearing them.

Goofy is his favorite character, so he had to have a Goofy band.

The other band is for StormRider at Tokyo Disney Sea. The radar part glows in the dark.

DH worked on the hydraulics for that ride, (they built it in the US, shipped it to Japan and helped with the installation), and we went to the park several years ago with our daughter who lives in Japan, and went on the ride. They recently announced that they will be closing the ride and replacing it with a Nemo ride. He was kind of sad about that so I thought a StormRider band might cheer him up.

All of these bands are amazing! WOW!! I should be receiving mine in the next 2 weeks! I can't wait! I'm thinking tattoos... glitter.. gems.. But any advice for the glow in the dark paint? Should I use nail polish? or Acrylic? I think that'll def add some fun for those dark rides!!

I used this paint that I picked up at Michaels

It takes many coats to get a decent glow. When you aren't in the dark, it is a little noticeable on my band where the Mickey head has it on it, but it is over white, so that makes sense. On my husband's StormRider band in the post above it isn't noticeable at all, and his has more coats on it than mine. I just kept applying thin coats and testing it to see how it much glowed. His actually glows nicely in my tests at home, but we haven't had a chance to try it at the parks yet.

Here is a post from someone who used the glow in the dark Mod Podge...

I wanted to report back on how my Magic Band held up on my trip. My MB was decorated with 5 thin layers of glow-in-the-dark Mod Podge, Frozen temporary tattoos from Party City, and a few light layers of Aleene's Matte Acrylic Sealer Spray.

My trip was short (3 days), but my MB was exposed to intense hot and sunny weather, and rain. There was some very small, super thin cracks around where the band curves under the wrist. They are not very noticeable unless you're looking closely. I was also careful to not flatten out the MB, which would probably result in large cracks. It held up well and I could even use this band again on my next trip.

The coolest part was that the band glowed when we were on the dark rides! I also got lots of comments from CMs, even one who thought I had bought the Frozen MB from Wandering Oaken's Trading Post!

Oh WOW!! That's great!!! Thanks so much for the help! I can't wait to get mine!!!!

We went to WDW in Jan and I decorated mine in a steampunk theme tribute to Belle. I used nail polish and clear top coat and e6000 to glue it all on. I wanted a watch instead of wearing my MB and a watch at the same time. I love how it turned out and I got a lot of complements :) And it held up pretty great all week.

I love this! I had been toying with the idea of a steampunk band, but yours is so much better than anything I was coming up with. Well done!!

This looks amazing! I love the idea of people putting watches on the MB so that they don't have to wear both. The little trinkets on the band are adorable! ^_^

That is an amazing Steampunk Band!

I love your steampunk band. But I thought someone said we couldn't use metal to decorate the magic bands - something about messing with the RFID chip or whatever?

That was me. Metal can be a problem for the RFID antenna, it's not a certainty and there are several factors involved including how much and where you put it. We tested some foil based decal material but that blocked the RFID. Not saying you can't use metal, just saying be careful! :)

Love the steampunk watch though!

Here are ours!

Missing is my son's. His is from magic your band and just has his name on it created by a Dis'r here (with Phineas & Ferb).

The Elsa band glows in the dark.

Just wanted to update on our bands. My husband's (Wreck It) held up best. His looks the same today as it did before we left. My daughter's crown fell off a few days in. Elsa and Anna also peeled. (They were stickers, not tattoos) MOST of my Ariel band held up. Ariel was a vinyl I ordered off etsy and she is fine. The bubble stickers worked great and held up. The scrapbook shells were gone the first day.

I also wish I had taken some polish with me to touch up. The gold edges of my band did start to wear down. Plus, when I lost the shells, I wish I had my blue polish to repaint those spots to hide the residue left.

If anyone is interested in a second picture, let me know and I will post the after.

I agree with the others, the cast members are the ones who love to see the decorated bands. I guess with seeing millions of plain ones, it's nice to see something original. I got dozens of compliments on mine (and my nails that matched. lol)

Our magic your bands came in :) How many posts do you need before you can post pictures?

hmm, all I see is to add pictures by url, but not directly from my computer :(

Can someone verify that the bands work if the Mickey is painted or colored in? I just decorated ours with nail polish (over the Mickey too) and a friend mentioned they may not work?

You'll be fine painting or covering the Mickey head, it won't affect how the band works at all.
