Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Yay!! Photobucket worked thanks. I had trouble applying the frozen tats and Elsa has a battle scar. Not too noticeable :-p still waiting on my sons Star Wars tats from ebay. Thank you everyone with the tips and inspiration.

I am putting base coat over the top of my nail polish designs and the black nail polish is smearing, even though I let it dry overnight. Suggestions for preventing this from happening to my re-done band?:sad2:

The last band I had to do, my mom's. After DD saw this had to add some bling to hers :rolleyes2 I really love how this one turned out.

Here's some new ones that I've painted in the last couple of days...It makes these last 12 days go by a little quicker!

Use top coat, not base coat. Here is something I found when searching:

Can I use a topcoat as a basecoat or vice versa? -
It is best not to use them interchangeably. Although they look similar, these two products are designed to do different things. Base coats are usually thicker and stickier, which helps the nail polish adhere better. They contain more resins to give the nail added strength. Topcoats are thinner and contain more ingredients that create a durable surface on the nail. They are made to add strength, dry quickly and protect the polish from daily wear and tear. There are a few products that offer the convenience of two products in one which combines the bonding power of a basecoat with the protection of a topcoat.

Ok, thanks. I had stayed away from top coats because other posters on this thread staged that top coat caused their bands to crack. Maybe I'll try a combo of both top coat and base coat.

Wow! Everyone's bands are so awesome. I feel like mine are the ugly step-sisters by comparison. LOL!

I may have stumbled on a great solution! I painted the band with some acrylic (black) and sealed it with clear Flex Seal. The dark gray is base coat, nail polish, and top coat from my May trip.

Here's the test picture of acrylic and sealer:

Finally done w/ my bands. Can't wait to start using them next week. Hubby originally thought decorating the bands was a dumb idea, that is until he saw mine. LOL. So etleast I put one layer of clear polish on one of his to make it shiny. But I think you can all use your imagination for that one.....I didn't take pics of it.

Here is my Mickey band

I had other plans for my Minnie band but painting with nail polish was harder then I thought so this is what I ended up with.

Completely inspired by this thread I couldn't wait to get my new band so I figured I'd try it out with my one from last year. I haven't sealed this yet, I wanted to reread the threads to see what worked for others first.

I did this based on the painting The Bride by Jasmine Becket-Griffith.

Love it!

I have sealed all my bands using a nail polish top/base coat. I did have some cracking around the holes mostly.

I think you are going to want to find something more flexible, especially since you took the outer part off. The one I did that to had the most cracking since you have to bend it more to close it.

Someone just above mentioned flex seal. I'm going to research that next.

Just as and FYI I used paint pens for the turquoise and red and puffy paint for shirts for the gold braid and Celtic symbol. Both are extremely flexible and once they were dry I have twisted my band every way I could think of without any cracking at all. I did use a base coat but have not put anything on the top nor am I planning to (unless the glow paint I bought works out). I won't be doing anything in the water unless it rains during my trip but since the puffy paint is made for washable clothes I'm pretty sure it will be good.

Your bands are absolutely gorgeous Araithel and AlleyOop!

Since I am nowhere near as talented as you both, Party City has a ton of Disney temporary tattoos for $.99. I picked up some so I can work on our bands for April!
