Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Third band... only one left after this. My back hates me! I think I'm taking a break for a couple days before I tackle the last one lol! For my band I couldn't decide... I love The Little Mermaid and Sleeping Beauty, so I did both! Definitely looks better in person. It's hard to get a good pic of the whole band since you can't really get them straight.

WHOA. I don't know how you did that in such tiny intricate work! Get some Advil and bio freeze for your back! Wow!!!

I didn't put much into that and just picked up a bottle at Target that I thought was cute! I didn't even notice the brand until I read your question. :rotfl: It's Sally Hansen, Great White. I liked the sparkle but didn't want too much glitter. This worked! I did a clear base coat on all of them first, then multiple coats of the white until I thought it looked light enough. Some of the bands took more than others, of course. The tattoos went on when it was dry, with another clear coat on top.

This may be a dumb question, but when you apply the tattoos to the MB, do you get them wet and hold them on like you would if you were putting them on a kids arm?

HI DisFriends... I have a question about the colors. I am planning on "covering" the color of my magic band with coral nail polish (it my absolute addiction right now) so my thought is if I start with a pink band should the coral color polish cover the pink? Or should I maybe start with a yellow band since it is a little lighter? I am a bit nervous about the yellow cause if it doesn't cover well I don't want to be stuck with a yellow band. For those of you who started with a pink band and did decorating with nail polish did the lighter colors cover ok? Thanks for your time and knowledge!!!

Last year, we actually found the yellow band the most difficult band to cover with polish.

First I wanted to say wow! Amazing job by everyone on here- lots of creativity and I love the way everyone is using their own level of artistic ability to really personalize their bands!

If all goes well with job and school schedules, our family will be going to WDW Jan. 25- Feb. 1, 2015 (my kids and DH don't know this yet, they just think I'm planning the next rip, whenever that will be). We are booked to stay at POFQ. I've been reading this thread pretty much since the beginning and have had a million ideas inspired by all of you.

I've been throwing ideas out there to the family, and one that everyone seems to like is doing Princess and the Frog theme because of where we're going to stay. As my younger DS put it, that would remind us when we look back at those bands that they were from this trip. So I'd do my band with Tiana, DH would be Prince Naveen, older DS would be Louis (he plays trumpet), and younger DS would be "The Shadow Man."

I found some images online, printed them out in the size I wanted, cut them out, traced our old magic bands onto a sheet of paper, traced the cut-outs, and tried to re-create the images just in pencil. The Dr. Facilier one came out pretty good, and the Prince Naveen as a frog with guitar and crown accents was ok, but I just couldn't get the face details for Tiana right (her eyes especially), and the proportions and details to get Louis and his trumpet on were awkward.

So I searched all over the internet and found some stickers of the characters and ordered them. I should have enough accent stickers to add to the bands too. Of course I have a few months before I can even order the bands, but by then school, extra-curricular, and work schedules will have me so busy I thought I'd better be prepared!

Thanks again to everyone for their ideas, tips, and tricks you've shared! I'm sure once I get ready to assemble them I'll be back with more questions.

So I put tattoos/rub on transfers and a clear top coat of base coat on.... Now I don't like it. Do you think I can take it off with nail polish remover?

That is wonderful. I love it. Our youngest DD was Ursula in a play and was thinking of doing that scene. Great job. It looks wonderful in the picture. I understand about the back. We took a day break before we tackled my DHs. We finished it last night - it took us 2 days - my youngest DD did most of it. I will post pictures soon.

We can't wait to see your last one.

Thanks so much! I found a black "nail art pen" at Wal-Mart for something like $3. I couldn't have done the bands without it. Worked like a charm for tiny details.

We used that same pen and got it at Walgreens. I got it in black and in white. We used it on almost all of the bands. The only issue we had is one time we didn't let it dry well enough and when we went to put the clear over it - the black smudged a little. We dried it for a couple of hours - the next time we dried it overnight. It was on our Newsies band - which my DD used a lot of that pen. We also used Migi Nail Art - part of the bottle is a brush and part of the polish is as thin as a pen.

Well, I goofed. Yesterday was the last day to customize our bands in MDE and it was also my son's birthday party.. I totally forgot all about it. I had guessed at what colors everyone would want a few months ago, but hadn't updated it as they had given me more specific answers about what designs they want on their bands. I can't remember what I chose, and can't see them in MDE. Ugh.

So my question is.. how hard is it to cover up the original color with nail polish? Has anyone picked a totally different color nail polish than the actual band, and had success in covering it up? I mean, I'm sure I won't be able to go from a dark color to a light color, but what about making a green band red, or something like that?

Sure it can be done and will just depend on how well the nail polish covers for how many coats you'll need to put on. I changed both a blue and a gray to white. A yellow to pale green.

There are some really cute ideas in this thread! I don't think I'll go quite as all out as some of you artists but I am definitely considering picking up some sparkly polish and rhinestones for my band when it gets here. Maybe if I make it look shiny enough, I can wear it to work and no one will realize what it is... :rolleyes1

....#8..last one. We finished my DHs magic band last night. The kids surprised him. He said he likes Space Mountain and Soarin - so we did both of them and added a monorail. He is such a great guy and we wanted his to be really special. It took us 2 days to finish it and mostly our youngest DD did it but it was a joint effort. We used only nail polish on this one as well as the others.

Now I get my dining room table back....here it is:

That came out great!

I can relate to the dining room table thing. Mine looked like a paint bomb went off for about two weeks while I was painting. :rotfl2:
