Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

I'm not sure if I'm tagging you right, but I'm obsessed with your Small World MB!! So colorful and awesome! I did my other son's band with Monster's Inc. characters... I'm dying to post it tomorrow!

I'm so glad that I found this thread. I hadn't even thought about decorating the bands myself. I've done a few of mine so far. They're all broken down to "kid size" because I have smaller wrists and I don't actually wear the bands much anyway. I don't know how everyone is making such neat bands without breaking them apart. My first was a mess!

I didn't want all white bands, but wanted the images brighter so I used a glitter white polish. It was just enough to lighten the band for the image, but not take away the original color completely. It worked out perfectly! Only Aurora is a little pink in her face. These are all brighter than the pic shows.

The sides of the Snow White band didn't turn out so I cleared the images and left it. I loved the color of the band, despite the mistakes. :) It's tough to tell in the pic, but Tiana's band has a tiny star in the smaller Mickey head for Evangeline. :goodvibes

This was too much fun. I need more magic bands!

These look great! I love them!

I found Frozen tattoos in the dollar section at Target last week!

Thanks for the tip! I will look there.

I have a bunch of Frozen tattoos but we won't have our bands until the end of Sept/beginning of Oct...is that too late to send you extra?

Thank you for the offer, but yes, we will be there September 8-12. Hopefully I will locate some before then.

pepperandchips: The Miss Piggy band is really cute!

Thank you - I appreciate the post. I wanted to do it from the beginning but was so afraid to do it - I am not an artist - my kids are. I kept going back and forth and practiced on paper - and then just did it. The part that scared me were the faces - so I just left them out. The area was too small.

I can't wait to see your Monster's Inc. I love seeing other people's Magic Bands.

I recognize that I am an unapologetically ridiculous human. Here is my pink sparkly Miss Piggy magic band for my birthday trip (LEAVING IN SEVEN DAYS YAY):

It looks better from far away :rotfl:

This is great. I love Miss Piggy. Our bands are the same - they look better from far away. The nail polish is not like painting with acrylics. Great job. We love the shiny pink background.

Doing faces is hard for me too. I originally wanted to do Finding Nemo for son #2, but it was too difficult so I had to switch to Monsters. It turned out nicely though, so I'm happy. It's hard because the band is only so wide so it limits what I can do.

My band is pink and I really wanted to do Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather flying around and I was going to paint one half blue and put the quotes "make it pink" on the pink end and "make it blue" on the other, but idk... we'll see! I'll have to practice a ton before I can dive in lol!

Has anyone thought to try mod podge as a sealant instead of clear nail polish? I haven't sealed either of the bands I did yet and I have a ton of mod podge... wondering if that might work.

Great job!! May ask where you got the tattoos? I am having a hard timing finding ones that aren't too big!!

Almost all are from Target. I found a book of princess tattoos in the party supplies. Those were big, so I had to do some trimming. The Cinderella tattoos are from Amazon.

You could always try those meant for nails? I went with that for my first attempt with this. (This one is a mess though!) These were easier to work with than the bigger tattoos anyway.

Thanks! I used a couple nail decals last year but most were a bit too small.

Wow Flora, Fauna and Merryweather would be great. I practiced about 4 times before I painted the band. I just sealed it with a base coat about 3 times.

Show us what you do on your band.

VERY cute!

I don't wear nail polish so I have no clue if there is a good/bad brand/type to buy....you list white glitter polish, but when I look at amazon there are a zillion of them. Suggestions? And do you just literally paint it on and then just wait for it to dry before applying the tattoos?

Thanks for sharing your talent and creativity!

I think that someone, way back at the beginning of the thread, said they tried it and it cracked.

Thanks! The thing that looks like a battery is supposed to be a scream tank, lol!

I'm glad I asked about the mod podge. I'll stick to clear polish for a sealant!

HI DisFriends...
I have a question about the colors. I am planning on "covering" the color of my magic band with coral nail polish (it my absolute addiction right now) so my thought is if I start with a pink band should the coral color polish cover the pink? Or should I maybe start with a yellow band since it is a little lighter? I am a bit nervous about the yellow cause if it doesn't cover well I don't want to be stuck with a yellow band. For those of you who started with a pink band and did decorating with nail polish did the lighter colors cover ok? Thanks for your time and knowledge!!!

I didn't put much into that and just picked up a bottle at Target that I thought was cute! I didn't even notice the brand until I read your question. :rotfl: It's Sally Hansen, Great White. I liked the sparkle but didn't want too much glitter. This worked!

I did a clear base coat on all of them first, then multiple coats of the white until I thought it looked light enough. Some of the bands took more than others, of course. The tattoos went on when it was dry, with another clear coat on top.

I just did my pink band and just like the green and blue one I did, the nail polish colors came out great. You'll find the more coats you do the deeper the color, but I was even able to do a section of my son's blue band a lighter green and it came out good. Good luck!
