I used the tip I read way back somewhere in this thread... I fastened the bands around an empty water bottle and then used Scotch tape to cover the gray edges and attach the bands to the bottles. Super easy to hold/paint them that way, and then once they were dry I peeled off the Scotch tape and the edges stayed nice and clean!

What a great tip! I wish I had read that earlier.

I'm in awe of all the talent on this thread. We just got our magic bands for our Oct 3rd trip. I LOVE minions, my daughter loves pluto and robin hood and my hubby is a huge figment fan but also loves his Atlanta Falcons. I'm debating on whether to attempt doing ours, I figure if I mess them up too bad I can always buy the covers at WDW lol! Hmmm what to do...

has anyone found stickers that work or must you use tatoos?

I wondered this also.. I went back and found someone who used stickers and I think they work if you top coat seal them enough..
Stickers seem to be thicker than the tatoos.. but, honestly, I could not find temp tatoos... only stickers. I checked out Target, JoAnns, Michaels, Dollar stores...So stickers it will be for me.
I do think they would look better on the MB if you can cut off the white surrounding the sticker.. or put them on a white painted MB so you don't see that is obviously a sticker..
Just my 2 cents..

The Bruins band is all tattoos!! A couple coats of base coats first, a couple more coats after. Easy peasy (the only way DH was letting me decorate his was if I made it Bruins!).

Thanks. It is just really hard to go through 156 pages of posts. I would like to find out how well they head up or if the Tattoos head up better. also if they used the same nail polish tecnique when using the stickers.

I used vinyl band covers which had two stickers on top of it. The vinyl covers and stickers have stayed on just fine. But I put a couple of layers of cheap glitter nail polish over the vinyl and it has been pulling away from the vinyl in the areas where it bends the most. I have applied some layers of top coat but so far it keeps separating.

You can see on my polkadot band, some smearing from the white when I brushed the clear base coat over it. I had used a paint pen to make the polkadot. When it smeared, I ran and got my white nail polish and painted over the white paint pen and then the smearing stopped. You probably can't see it too good, but on the sides of the others, they did crack a little mostly I think because I put on A LOT of coats of base coat after the tattoo was down, and because I didn't close the band, I painted it flat which I think was not the accurate thing to do. But I love them and I think my family will love them too! My husband loves his Redskins band!

Stickers aren't as flexible tattoos, and have a different look. Some I've seen look thick and kind of wrinkled.

I seem to remember that someone had done both and said that the tattoos held up better, but they were going to try a different method of adhering the stickers to see if it worked better.

I received 2 sets of bands for this trip because we are staying at 2 resorts, and I know that I could have linked both to 1 band, but I wanted to decorate all 8. The first ones are in this post and the others will be in additional posts.I will probably wear both of mine all week! I borrowed a couple of my designs from this board. so that for the ideas!! I did a post like this when I got through all the pages that existed at that time. I think there were 142 pages, and my post appears at the top of page 143?

I'm still on the lookout for temporary tattoos and/or rub-on transfers....our trip isn't until January...but it's all very exciting!

I'm super excited. I was able to add this magic band to my FIL's account. I'm mailing it out to him today so that he can wear it next week.

I think it looks cool in the packaging.
