Has anyone bought "frozen cookie dough" from school fundraisers?

I know I will need to buy some of this stuff to support my kids in their venture, but I am really hesitant about how much. If it is absolute garbage I won't buy many, but I have never tried these pre-made frozen types of cookies before and I don't know what to expect.

Has anyone seen/tried/made these before and are they good?

Thanks. :goodvibes

YES..in fact, I have tried many different brands.

As a coach myself, I have had my athletes sell cookie dough for fundraising.

Right now I have 2 packages of cookie dough in my freezer.

Honestly, it depends on the brand on how much I like it. Some are just ok and some are really pretty good.

If they offer the Heath Bar Cookie dough, buy it by the bucket!!!! It's sooooo yummy!!!!

yep and its really good...just take a spoon and eat it right out of the container...forget about cooking it... :goodvibes

they are about the size of a large margarine container and the ones my kids sold are pretty bad. I just bake them when I need to take cookies someplace, because they really aren't anything I would want to serve as a refreshment, but they are fine if you are taking cookies for kids to eat.

The ones that I have purchased have been pretty darn good. It was not the scoopable kind it was pre-cut cookie dough. And the Heath cookies were out of this world.

My son's going to be selling this stuff soon. I have to keep chanting "Weight Watchers" to myself. :p

Yes, and it is very good. I've bought it several times and never been dissapointed.

Yes, we've always enjoyed it. The triple chocolate chunk is really good and the snickerdoodle.

It really depends on the brand, but it hasn't been bad yet. I still prefer baking by scratch, but it's handy for a quick cookie fix. The dough can be kept frozen for up to a year or in the fridge for 3 months.

There is one company that sells White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookie dough--my advice: buy extra. I buy the Oatmeal Raisin for my mom. She's a widow living alone so she doesnt' like to make a big batch of cookies. I scoop out the dough into small portions, freeze it and she can take out what she wants and make 6 cookies.

You can always just cut a check directly to the school if you don't want the cookie dough, or are concerned about it's quality.

We do and it's yummy. I always buy something I would never make at home though (like chocalate macadamia nut).

That's what my kids do!

Actually all the ones we have purchased have been very good. NOT as good as homemade of course, but they are good.

I think the fund raiser prices for this cookie dough are outragious! I realize the school gets a cut of the money, but the price is still way too high. :confused3

That is the BEST!!!!

Hmmm, I'm not sure of the brand. Sounds like that could really make all the difference.

Minkydog - white chocolate macadamia nut and oatmeal raisin are on the list so maybe this is the same company?

I don't have heath bar as a choice though, darn, it sounds good.

Oooooooooooo YES! White Chocolate Macadamia Nut was terrific! Actually, they were all good....Chocolate Chunk was a favorite of my family too! DS sold Tasty Batters brand and it sold itself! We had people order just 1 and call after the fundraiser was over and asked if they could possibly order more....too late! We just reminded people, the next year, to order enough as it was a "limited time" fundraiser! :rotfl:

We have done the cookie fundraisers for a couple different groups. One sells pre-cut cookies that come in a box and the other sells the tubs of dough. They are both good but I like the premade ones a bit better just because they are less hassle.
