I have an old tablet with the Kindle app. I load it up with free books in several genres and take it when traveling. That way I have a wide variety of books at my disposal. I prefer light-hearted books on vacation but the occasional non-fiction is nice too.

I also love Diana Gabaldon, John Grisham and Stephen King but I read a lot of free Prime books especially on vacation!

I'm working my way through the Kristin Hannah books and will bring another on my upcoming cruise. The Great Alone is a particular favorite. I have always loved the Sherlock Holmes stories too and not many people I know have read them. I have the collection broken into two books but each story doesn't take long to read. Lastly, I always recommend the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Can you tell I like historical fiction?

I am on a WWll historical fiction kick right now. I also enjoy comedy mysteries & just finished several Kristin Hannah books.

I like audio books. Pop in the earbuds, lay back and chill. Usually I go with old reliable-s that I've read/listened to before so that if (?) I fall asleep, it's no big deal.

I wish DCL would let us bring back the little trading library we had pre-Covid. Just a book shelf in Cove Cafe where you could leave books you read and pick up one that someone else had left.

You might consider one of Agatha Christie's novels where they are on a holiday traveling, perhaps to a place you have been or want to go.
Then pretend you are on that same trip and the people around you are actually characters in the book.
It could add a fun dimension to reading while traveling.

Coming from a Star Wars nerd, anything by Timothy Zahn involving Thrawn!

Realistically though, anything you enjoy will be exponentially more enjoyable sitting on your balcony (if you have one) or on the pool deck, or the promenade feeling the breeze, enjoying the sun, and not being at home.

I got a book called Murdle if you are into crime shows it’s a bunch of solve who done it type puzzles and so fun. It’s not a traditional novel but fun.

I have a certain tradition of taking Agatha Christie books on every trip I take. And the point is that I don't read such detective stories at home, but I really like the atmosphere while traveling. And now I automatically associate Agatha Christie's work with rest and travel.

Funnily enough, I'm a huge ship nerd, particularly when it comes to the ocean liners of the early 20th century. On my cruises I have been known to read The Shipwreck Hunters and Dead Wake: Last Voyage of the Lusitania, amongst others.

I think a fun one to read while on a cruise is Santa Cruise: A Holiday Mystery at Sea by Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark.
Yes it involves a Christmas theme so maybe not something you'd want to read this time of year? But honestly its such a fun light mystery and I love anything by either of them.
