I READ THAT "ONCE UPON A TOY STORE" HAS BUILD YOUR OWN MR. POTATO HEAD SETS. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND ABOUT HOW MANY PIECES CAN YOU FIT INSIDE THE BOX?
:earsgirl: :earsboy:  :hyper:

You get a box for $18 and all the pieces you can fit in there. A good idea is to buy a cheap potato head at Walmart/Target, and then just fill your box with the pieces. If you do want to get the potato head itself, make sure you open the back up and stick in as many pieces in there as you can. We bought ours at MouseGear in Epcot. DTD has more options, I'm told, but we found plenty of cool Disney pieces at the Epcot store: Mickey Fantasia hat, princess hat and wand, Minnie's bow and shoes, Mickey Balloon, Buzz space gun, Mickey camera, WDW sandals. There's also some place in MK that sells them too, I believe. I'd say we fit at least 30 pieces in the box though many of them were small ears and eyes. I didn't have time to work on getting as many pieces in the box as I could. You can also sometimes get CM's to help you with this.

These are available at County Bounty in Mickey's Toontown Fair in Magic Kingdom. We got ours at the DTD store and they did seem to have a slightly bigger variety. The stores also have packages of Mr Potato Head pieces that are exclusive to Disney. We got 2 sets - one has Christmas pieces and the other includes Halloween and Easter. I can't tell you how many we got in the box because we dumped them quickly once we got back to our room (I brought the body from home). Also, a lot depends on what pieces you want. Obviously, you'll get a lot less in the box if you go mostly for the hats and shoes than if you go for the smaller accessories, such as eyes, Mickey bars, autograph book, etc. At the DTD store, as long as you could close the box so that one tab fit into the appropriate slot on the other side, you could stuff to your heart's content :)

BTW - I filled 2 boxes and didn't get everything but think I got at least one of 90% of those offered. Some are basics you get with any Potato Head set so I skipped those. Others were just different colors of something I did get.

We got the standard Mr. Potato head offerred by Disney 2 years ago, the only place you could by him was DTD. When we go down, we are going to accessorize!!!!

We got 90% as well, but I was able to get both DD's the same thing inside each of their box. We too stopped at Walmart and bought the potato head.

The CM at DTD store was totally amazed at how heavy our boxes were. He even commented "boy darn good thing we dont charge by the weight huh? I lauged...I must have dumped them on the floor 5-6 times, and repacked it, to be able to add more. For the life of me, I can not repack them now that we're hope.....

The kids picked out what they wanted- then used the little computer thing they have to build and print the dudes..then they and DH went through the rest of the store, playing along the way while I stuffed and stuffed and stuffed....

I cant wait to do it again! Even though we'll have duplicates it was the "thrill of the fill" that got me.

the worst part was seeing people dump a body, 2 arms, 1 feet, 1 hat, and 1 balloon thing in the box- then go pay the 18 bucks...I knew right away they werent' "disers" LOL

Whenever I see a Mr Potato Head thread, I try to add the following info I found on this board:

The link to the original post this info came from, is at the bottom of the page. It is four pages long and full of potato head info. Have fun!

I am not the original poster of this helpful information. I just copied it from previous posts by Shelle&Dave and Wheezy.

Hope this helps.

They sell Mr Potato head parts at various locations. Some are: Pop Century Resort, Once Upon A Toy Store in DTD, Mouse Gear in Epcot, Toon Town in MK,

I think another thing I read somewhere is that if you buy your standard Potato Head at Wal-Mart/Target, be sure to get a set of arms at Disney because the arms that come in the regular Potato Head sets don't hold accessories. I'll know for sure when I fill my Potato Head goody bag on Friday! :)

just in case MPH loses one ... sure blame on the spud ::yes::

also having 2 of each assures that you will have extra just in case!

I would love to have the holiday accessories. I didn't see them anywhere this past summer.

The DTD store did have a tree and Santa hat in the huge mix but I didn't see the other. We did buy the Cowboy and Pirate accessory packages.

Where exactly were these packages?

Oooohh...I love Mr. Potato Head! I had no idea about this stuff-a-box business! I am so excited. I think I like MPH more than my DD...I was planning on staying away from the shops but this changes everything LOL!

I got 2 boxes and let me tell you if you breathed on them they would have opened. Infact i made that comment ot teh CM at th register and he said as long as it is closed thats what matters. I mean this box was staying closed on a wing and a prayer. I still havent gottenthe kids the Mr potato heads to go with the pieces yet! They are going to have a Mr potato head area when they reopen the fifth avenue disney store next month as world of disney in NY. I am going to have to take the kids and see if they have any different pieces there.

I second Swilphil's idea. Buy the cheap Mr. Potatohead at Target, etc. and then just load up on the additional pieces at WDW. Much bigger bang for your buck.

Exactly! both girls have 2 of each here!...and thats the reason, someones bound to lose an arm LOL
