I found this website on Pinterest and wanted to know if anyone has used this. From what I understand it rents out un-used vacation club points with huge savings to those who rent them. Thanks for your input!

We've used David's service several times, and I highly recommend it. It's a great way to save on a DVC room.

We used David's service last year to rent points to stay 7 nights at BLT. My in-laws used him too. He provides great service and everything went perfectly.

He doesn't rent points. He coordinates people who want to make a DVC reservation with owners who have unused points. There's a difference. If you choose to go thru David's, you will still have a reservation that is under the control of the DVC owner. Every change and request must go thru David's company and they will send it on to the owner. You will pay a little more for the reservation than if you were to find an owner and make arrangements with them directly. However, it is a little less risky to book through him than thru an unknown person on the internet.

Something else you need to know. David's has to work within DVC rules. So if he has owners with DVC contracts at SSR, the only resort that they can book at 11 months out would be SSR. He could have a million points available but if they're all at SSR, it won't help you to secure a DVC reservation at BLT for Christmas or BCV during F&W right now. It also means that if there are no available DVC rooms at your choice of resort, for the week that you want and in the room category you're thinking of getting, it won't matter how many DVC members he has with available points or where they own.

FWIW, David's IS a disboards sponsor. I get the impression that they are on the up & up. If you're a first-timer and nervous about "renting points", using his service can ease you into the process.

David's is a major advertiser on the DIS boards and, I believe, sponsors a board on the DIS.

They're very reputable and a lot of people on these boards have used them. If you do a search on David's DVC you'll see page after page, all positive, on David.

We've booked two upcoming trips using his service. We leave in 2 days for the first trip! It was quick, easy, and legit. The process is easily explained on his site and I found the process went very smoothly. I even lost our confirmation numbers and contracts and had replacements on both within two hours of my request. Communication is top notch and friendly.

I am able to view my reservation on Disney's site and see the countdown, link dining, etc. just like I would if I had booked any other way.

It also allowed us to afford deluxe rooms as my family is too big for any value or moderate. Our only options were to either rent dvc or stay offsite and I'm happy I used his service.

How much of a savings is it to rent someone's points than to book a room directly with the resort?

We've used David's 3 times and I would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them. I feel a little more assured about using them vs. a private owner given their BBB status and relationship with this board. I have never seen a negative story or complaint.

His website will explain in detail how the process works and they are more than happy to answer questions. I would book as soon as you are sure of what you want to have the best chance of it being available.
We have stayed at AKV, BWV and OKW through Davids and it's been great every time.:)

It's really impossible to stay because of all the variables like where you are looking, when you are looking, what type of room, and what discounts are available from Disney.
I know for us it beat the 35% off PIN we had for the type of room we were looking for.

What you can do is play with the dates and rates on his site (he has a points calculator that will tell you the cost) and then match that against whatever Disney is offering on their site.

If you really want to compare the costs, take a look at what it would cost to book a studio, 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom or grand villa through the Disney website. Sometimes these rooms are available with a discount of about 35% off of the rack rate with a room-only discount from Disney.

Then compare that price with the number of points your would need to make a DVC reservation for the same room type. You can see a points chart here:
http://www.dvcbyresale.com/pointsCharts.php
Multiply the number of points by the price you would expect to pay per point (generally in the range of $11-$13/pt.). That the difference would be your savings. It can be a hefty chunk of change if you normally stay in Disney "Home-Away-From-Home" accommodations. If you normally stay offsite or in a value resort, it's not money-saver.

But just so that you know, "renting points" at the last minute is not likely to result in getting your first choice of resorts. Last minute in DVC lingo is anything with less than 3 months to go. During popular times of the year (early December, Food & Wine, etc.), it can be even more difficult to get the more popular resorts.

It can also be difficult to get those value or concierge studio rooms at AKV. There are very few of them and they pretty much book up within the first few days that they are available to AKV owners. So, don't enter into "renting points" if you are counting on being able to snag one of those rooms.

Make sure you get on his Last Minute specials email list. They are short notice points but you can usually get them for $7-8/point if you're flexible.

Used him once so I could convince DH we needed to buy DVC. Now we have 2 contracts!

Great info! I want to rent points for our Oct trip! :yay: Would love to do a split stay at our 2 favorite resorts. I am flexible with my Oct dates, so I will keep my fingers crossed! :cool1:

It's pretty significant. Booking with David is cheaper than booking directly with the resort, more expensive than renting points from a DVC member on your own, but more secure. We've rented points from owners (I don't think Davids was an option back then), and it was great.

Used him before, will gladly use him again in the future. If you have questions, use the chat button on his site. They are very helpful.

October can be difficult less than seven months out. And even before then. Especially at BCV, BWV which are walking distance to Epcot where Food & Wine Festival is going on.

Remember you don't get daily full cleaning. If you stay seven nights or less, you will get your trash removed and towels replaced on day four (day one is check in day). If you stay eight nights or more, you will get a full cleaning on day four and trash and towel service on day eight. You can't just ask for extra towels or linens or supplies. There is a charge for any extras. And DVC resorts do not offer cots or rollaways. You are limited to the number of sleeping spaces in the villa. (No matter if all your five kids do like sleeping together in one queen sized sleeper sofa ;))

So if you like coming back to a cleaned up villa every day, you'll have to pay extra for that. Add that cost into the cost of the "rental" and the 35% discount may work out better. Plus if Disney is offering free dining or any specials, like buy four get two free or kids eat free or stay and play free, you won't get any of those.

Actually, the bit about room occupancy is a bit misleading. Disney has occupancy limits on ALL rooms. The DVC is a hair more lenient on room occupancy for one bedroom villas than the Disney reservation system is. You can have 5 in an OKW or BLT villa because there is room to sleep 5 in those villas. If you make reservations thru disney reservations (not DVC) you can only have 4 in the other 1 bedrooms. If you rent thru DVC you can have 5. You are responsible for the bed for the 5th person. (Aka BYO air mattress.)

He has a minimum, i think , of 44 points to purchase. Right?

so for people going for just one or two nights, is it a good or bad idea?

(assuming 44 points costs $10 a point at the very least, is $440--- )

THANKS! for the info.! :thumbsup2 We are a family of 4 and DD will be 20 then so I know they charge an extra few $$ She uses a wheelchair fulltime so we need a HC room with a roll in shower. This may make it more difficult, not sure :confused3 I will keep my eye out for a pin and compare. Thanks again! :flower3: As far as housekeeping or towels we will be ok. My DH usually hangs a sign out no service required for most of our trip.

When you stay in a DVC villa or even a family suite (All Stars or AoA), there is no charge for extra adults.

Not sure if there's a minimum if you rent last minute points. Here's what his website says: The minimum rental is USUALLY 44 points. Occasionally, I may have a few fragmented points left over from a contract in which case I may be able to do a two or three night stay. Single night stays are not available.
