My one daughter has traveled to Israel and was interested in going to the Holyland Experience while we are on our trip there.

As it would cost about $70 RT for the cab fare, I was wondering if it was a nice place and if anyone had been there as I have not seen any posts about it and could not do a search.

Thank you!:)

We went to the HolyLand Experience back in December 2006 and really enjoyed it. It wasn't crowded at all, and there were a lot of shows/presentations that we really liked. In fact, we were just in Israel this past November/December and we commented that we could have saved ourselves a lot of $$ and would have enjoyed it more just going to the Holy Land Experience again - LOL! They do have a website that would probably give you the information you are looking for. They have a Scriptorium there that is very interesting. We really felt like it was worth going there - at least once.

Thanks for the info, I will check out the website.

I was just concerned that it would be a respectful representation and not over the top.

Appreciate your reply!;)

We really felt like the presentations given were respectful and not over the top. We attended several shows/presentations and appreciated them all. The model of Jerusalem is awesome. The people who work there seem to be very dedicated and had a wealth of knowledge. After seeing "the real thing" in Israel, I am amazed at the attention to detail given at the Holyland Experience.

I've never seen "the real thing", but I agree completely about how well done it was. We really enjoyed it thoroughly.

Have you thought about renting a car for the day? It could be cheaper than cab fare.

We have thought about renting a car but always discard the idea.

We live in a rural area and are not used to a lot of traffic, and do not enjoy finding our way around larger cities. If we had to, we could, but it would be extra stress we don't want on our vacation.:scared:

Everyone's different and most would probably not mind it, but we would rather be driven.

Thanks for the input!:cutie:

When did y'all go? I've been wanted to get there, but it was purchased a year or so ago by televangalists who fired much of the staff and made some sweeping changes that did NOT sound appealing to me. Thus I had crossed it off my list but would still like to go if they didn't ruin it.

We went in December 2006 and thought it was wonderful. I hadn't heard that it had been sold. We had friends that went there in January 07 and they also enjoyed the experience.

I went before it was sold, so I don't know about any changes. I had wondered about that myself. If I had had time, I would have liked to go when I was in Orlando last week, but I was there for a conference and just didn't have time.

If it helps any, we also live in a very rural area (don't even have a red light in our entire county :rotfl2: ). Orlando is very easy to navigate. Certain roads are much less congested than others. If you have any second thoughts about renting a car, let us know where you're staying, and we can probably send you on very easily accessible roads (that circumvent the highest traffic routes).

Either way, have a great trip! :thumbsup2
