Has anyone been married in Florida??

Can anyone offer any advice on getting married in florida. My girlfriend and i are thinking about it but want to know what is the cheap options, and to here from any other couples experiences.

Hi Steven

I am getting married to my fiancee over in Orlando in May - not long now !!!!

We are having our wedding at the Wyndham Orlando Resort which is a 45 acre resort located in the International Drive area.

We have chosen the Intimate Wedding package - which costs around $900 inclusive of taxes and service charge - and includes the ceremony, officiant, flowers, cake, champagne etc and the services of a wedding co-ordinator who will organise the event.

On top of this is the marriage certificate which has to be purchased seperately.

There are also the optional extras for photography, video, reception meal, accommodation etc - but this is down to your personal choice - the added bonus is that the wedding co-ordinator will arrange for all the additional services required.

We have found the whole process of organising the wedding very easy - especially with having only 1 point of contact for all of our needs - we have however had the benefit of visting Florida last year to have a look at various venues (a good excuse for another holiday too !!!) and also meet with the wedding co-ordinator in person to discuss our plans !

We got married in Orlando in 1995 at the Sheraton Lakeside (aka Sheraton 4 Points aka La Quinta Lakeside (?)) through Virgin Holidays.

Thoroughly recommend it - everything was organised for us - apart from having to go to the Courthouse to collect the marriage licence. We were married in a small garden courtyard overlooking the lake in 100+ deg. Wish I could do it again
