Has anyone been in early December?

We went in December a couple years ago and will probably be going again in December. I love that time of year for the decorations and the cooler weather. It did get cold some evenings. We never have a chance to go back to the room in the middle of the day so we packed a backpack with layers. I packed two large wool scarves (the squarish kind) that I could put on under a light jacket, plus my rain jacket that would also keep out the wind. And of course, a hat that covers your ears really help, too. Having these small layers was easier for us to carry around than a big coat.

Agree whole heartedly about weather. I wore shorts DW wore pants and light jacket for most of trip last week of nov. first of dec. Wore parka and wet suit for the Friday of stay as it rained ALL DAY and was very cold. Would highly recommend this week to others crowds were almost non existent. Rode many rides without having to get off.Can not go this year due to DW's work schedule. She could only get the 6th thru 10th off. Actually thinking of quitting job over this(serious). Pop Warner championships are held this week and dining plan is blacked out. Tells me ALOT of people. Can someone who has been there during pop warner describe. We stay at the Contempary so I dont care much about the bus although my heart goes out to you having to hold your sleeping 3 year old while standing. I would have gone off even though it is their vacation as well.

We were there for the tail end of pop warner last year and stayed at the pop the groups are put up in the all stars to keep them together. Most of the day the pop warner kids are over at the wide world of sports its really a few days later after pop warner end that you see groups of kids and i think thats just because the families are already down there so they stay for a few days later. The crowds werent horrible we actually didnt wait long for anything i think the longest was 45 minutes for toy story mania...this year we are going the 2-8 because of the black out dates and couldnt get into the pop and they wanted to put us at all star i said hell no and upgraded to caribbean beach im not so much worried about the pop warner crowds as i am the christmas day parade taping crowds which is why i also avoided that week last year...

We are going the last value week in December of this year. We picked it becasue of the prices, the crowds, Christmas, and the weather. The prices go up at the resports the day we leave (the 17th). I'm definately going to pack a bit of everything! Also we will be at POFQ, for the boat to Downtown Disney as well! I'd much rather deal with cold than hot!

Jessica- We'll be at POFQ the same week! Maybe I'll get a lime-green Mickey head for my backpack.

I've gone in early December twice and both times the mornings were quite chilly but it warmed up a lot by noon. So we wore layers and that worked out great.

We went the first week of December in '08, and we're going this year.

I agree with the PP to pack a bit of everything. We swam, but we also wore jackets to Epcot one night.

Crowd-wise, the only major issue you might face is PW. I think I read that Port Orleans is the overflow hotel for those families.

Florida is like Georgia, you can't depend on the weather to cooperate for anything. Just keep watching the weather online and bring a jacket for atleast the night times. Enjoy your trip!!

We love the French Quarter, the bus service is very convenient, the resort is small and beautiful and we enjoy the boat to DD. Early Dec. is a perfect time to go, many retirees and preschoolers. We are going this Dec. also, we are staying at Pop and The Contemporary. Weather was gorgeous in the past when we were there at this time, crowds were light and you can go to Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party.

Oh no, I'm probably going from the 6th-13th, now I'm a bit worried about the Pop Warner stuff.

Can more people who have been at the same time say what it was like?

We were there in Dec. 08 when Pop Warner was there. We even stayed at POR where some of them were staying. There were no problems at all and we never saw them in the parks. We are going again this Dec. when they are there. When we did see some of them at the resort they were quiet and polite.

Its the most wonderful time of the year to be at Disney World during the months of october, november and december. These are months that we always try to book our family vacation. To us these three months seem to have just the right temps during the day and can be sweater wear at night. We are from louisiana where its hot and humid most of the time so this is why we go to Disney World in the winter months. Holloween, thanksgiving and Christmas to my family are their favorite holldays of the year, just really beautiful in the parks at any one of those months. Hope to see yall there in November 2010.
