i usually book our cruises with DCL and never have a problem calling and checking on information regarding the cruise because you can talk to whoever about it. AAA is another story because you can only talk to the person who booked your trip, this is where i get frustrated, i need to make a few changes and ad transfers and get some information on the mailing of the docs but the person i orginally talked to is always away from her desk and doesn't return calls. i've asked to speak to someone else and i get the same story, that i need to talk to the person who booked me. arrrggggg. anyone else have this problem??

The trick with AAA is to make sure you work with the travel agent who is in that particular office all the time. The first time we booked we got a rotation of TA. Now I have someone who is always there and she gets back to me immediately with any questions. Find the person who is in the office all the time.

Our TAs from AAA have really been great about responding. I either send them an e-mail or leave a message on their ans. mach. & they always get right back to me.

However, I did have an issue with one giving me incorrect info & then I was charged for stuff (AAA reimbursed me eventually) so I asked for a supervisor & straightened it out & then requested to work with another TA. I mentioned that I wanted it to be not only one who is well-versed in DCL, but also one who will respond expeditiously.

They complied & no problem since. Maybe you can ask for a supervisor & then switch TAs?

I also had that problem with AAA on our first cruise. AAA also made us pick up our docs at their office. Unfortunatly, we are 2 1/2 hours away from our "local" AAA office. I had arranged to pick them up when we were headed an hour that direction for a dr's appointment. The agent actually called and asked me to come a different day because "she wasn't going to be there that day, and I had to get the docs from her." This was the same person who knew absolutly NOTHING about DCL?? Anyway, when she pushed the issue I told her that I would be contacting her supervisor and she backed down.

When we booked again, I called them for a price comparison (the soda mugs were nice, and our original cruise had a $200 credit), they said that they COULD fedex our docs to us, if we insisted, but we'd have to pay for it. Needless to say, we booked with DCL directly that time, and with Dreams for our currently planned trip.

Good luck!

I see you are from PA - me too! Not sure if we are dealing with the same AAA, but my problems were so bad that the regional manager ended up taking over my trip. More than just not returning phone calls, my AAA rep messed up cabins, dates, and payments. It was awful. We will not be using AAA again. Wish you well.

I am also from PA and using AAA. Ihave had no problems thus far. I communicate usuallu through email and my agent has been great in getting back to me.

In fact, I misplaced her email address so I sent a general one to the contact online and she called mme back within hours. Which I thought was great because I wasn't sure of her last name(I have areally bad memory for names LOL).

I used the Travel fulfillment center (i think that is what it is called) for Midatlantic AAA which is based in Hamilton NJ. My local AAA office is open the hours that I work and it is always really ccrowded so I did my whole cruise online. So far so good!

YYour post got me thinking though, I am going to find out how I get my docs and make final payment....

I would definitely ask for a supervisor and see if you can't get this worked out. Good luck!!

I had booked through AAA. I was so disapointed with service and lack of knowledege that i reverted my reservation back to myself. Ok so i lost the free mugs....it wasnt worth the agravation. Everytime I called DCL to get some info etc. they wouldnt let me do it because it wasnt my reservation. When I called AAA they would take forever to get back to me. They didnt even know how the Shore Excursions worked she kept on telling me to go online an book them. I'll use them for booking a hotel but I need to be way more hands on for something like a cruise.

thanks for all the replys. the AAA office i'm dealing with is in Richmond, Va. got transfered there in the overflow calls. this is my third time having difficulty in talking to the TA about my reservation. no return calls or getting back to me with information. in fact i could probably tell her more about DCL. i'm going to see in i can be switched to another TA and hope for the best.

We used AAA on our first cruise, and their agents kept quitting. By the time we cruised, I didn't know our agent and they didn't know us.

We now use DU, but I have booked with DCL directly with no problem and we used points once through DVC (again, no problem).
