Hi! I recently found the site Restaurant.com and have been interested but hesitant to try it. Now they are having a 60% off sale and I'm really interested but... Have any of you actually used one of their coupons at a local restaurant? I just wondered how they're received? Most discounts are buy one get one half off... this would be over 75% off the whole bill? Is it just too good to be true?? :confused3 Who better to ask than the DIS budget board!

We just used one for the first time this weekend. The business if relatively new here and the coupon said "food bill only" but they used everything including our drinks for the total. I got one of the $10 certificates. It was super easy and the staff was great about it. If there's somewhere you want to try, I'd say go for it. I would just read the fine print for that restaurant because some places insist the total be all food or they don't discount liquor or little things like that. They're all almost always a good deal:)

we have been using them for about a year or so and love them. The restaurant staff have always been great about them - some will take the amount off the food only while others take it off the complete bill - drinks included. The only problem I have now is that we just moved to NC and there are not any convenient restaurants nearby that participate.

We used one in Florida last year at Giordanos Pizzeria and it worked great. You have to read the fine print, there's sometimes a minimum purchase that needs to be made, drinks not included, not valid Fri/Sat etc.

We have used the coupons twice now and it couldn't be any easier! Give it a try! We rarely eat out without some sort of a coupon (Entertainment book, etc) so I was excited when I found another place to get them! Enjoy!! :wave2:

We actually used our first one this weekend, and it's really a great thing if it is somewhere you like. The only ones in our area are for a sub place and a seafood restaurant (that we went to on Sat). I also just received this email today that gives you 60% off the discounted price :cool1: You have to purchase by 9/30, but the certificates are good for a year! Here's the link for anyone who wants it. The discount code is 65639

Some of the places will make different stipulations such as "Not good for Friday and Saturday", "food only", etc. Just look before you buy. I bought one for a place for a few dollars but when I looked at the menu, I decided that even with the coupon, we were STILL going to spend way more than I was interested in. We did use one for a mom and pop Italian place----delicious and super easy to use the coupon.

I've used them over the past couple of years. Usually there is no problem with them. Some of the vendors have a lot of restrictions (how much you have to spend, number in party), but most of the ones I have used were good. You just give them the certificate when you order and it's that simple. You can only use one per month. Now one of the restaurants let me use it in conjunction with my entertainment card. The last one I went to did not. I did purchase one for one of the dinner shows in Orlando back in 2004 and that worked out to be a great deal! But if you can get a $25 certificate for $10 or less, why not. One less day to cook!!! :woohoo:

We've been using restaurant.com for a few years now. There are several restaurants, in our home area, that participate. I also make note of the zip code that we are visiting, on our vacations, and check restaurant.com to see if any restaurants near our vacation hotel or condo participate. We always buy a couple to take with us and have been pleased with the results. There are several restaurants, near WDW, that we visit each time we're there. We also visit Nashville, once a year, and use coupons there. We've never had a problem. Don't be afraid to give them a try!!

Thank you so much everyone! It's sure great to have DIS friends to ask!
You guys are the best! :thumbsup2

Local? No. Las Vegas? You betcha! Actually, I still have two or three from my last trip (I can only eat so many places, ya know, and a couple of nights we went to other restaurants :))
Anyway, no problem using the certificates.

We use one for one of our favorite places every month. And every month I wait for the 60% off code to replace it. Read the restrictions, and make sure to tip on the full amount :teeth: . We usally end up getting $35.00 ( app, 2 drinks,2 dinners & 1 dessert) worth of food for around $20.00 , that includes certificate, food and tip.

the good places to eat here in Downtown Frederick tend to run out of their coupons by the first week of the month.

I did manage to score some with 40% off rebate though. (by the time the 50 &60% discounts come out the are out of my favorite restaurants)

Join their mailing list and you'll get notices when the coupons are 50-60% off. You do have to read the fine print as to how much you have to spend. The only problem we have is trying to spend $35 for two of us to eat at lunch - even with drinks and dessert we couldn't do it, and ended up paying out of pocket when the only reason we ate at this place was because of the coupon.

I bought one for a local restaurant and forgot I had it. I received an email from them recently that the restaurant was no longer participating and they gave me a credit to choose a new certificate. I was amazed at their great service!

There aren't any restaurants in our area that are listed, but we did use one on vacation this summer.

The certificate worked fine, except when we went to pay, the restaurant said the policy was an automatic 18% tip was to be added to our bill ~ BUT we had ALREADY left a 15% tip on the table.

And guess what, the waiter had cleaned the table and the tip was gone. The manager took some off the 18%, but it pretty much wiped out most of the "savings" we got by using the coupon.

Just read all the fine print!

We've used it at a local restaurant and haven't had any problems.

Wish there were restaurants near Vero Beach. We eat out a lot when we are there.

Enjoy yours!!

We used two in Vegas and had no problem.

Julia

Thanks so much for the comments... I think I'll give it a try. :thumbsup2
