Has anybody heard...

This morning I heard a news reporter interviewing a woman who had just voted. The Lady was so excited (that she had just voted) that she was almost out of breath. The news reporter asked her why she was so excited and the woman said "I'm ready for change" and the reporter asked her what was going to change. The woman responded, "I won't have to pay my mortgage any more or pay for gas for my car"!!!!!
I've also heard people say that they are going to be rich after the election. Do people really believe this? Has anybody else heard people say things like this?
Please no ugly responses. I'm just asking if anybody has also heard this and where do they get it from?

People say stupid things. There's no way to escape it. Like I tell my kids, just don't quote them.

We discussed this last week when it first came out. Some felt the way most posters do on this thread so far, that she expected handouts -others (including me) felt she meant that an Obama presidency would help stabilize the economy and make her personal situation more stable, so that gas and mortgage costs would be more in line with what the middle class could afford.

I suppose no one really knows what she meant and I haven't heard anyone say that they went back and asked her, so to each thier own.

She didn't say she wouldn't have to pay her mortgage. She said she wouldn't have to WORRY about paying her mortgage. There is a big difference there. Maybe she thinks things will ease enough that it will be easier for her to make ends meet. People see what they want to see in these things.

I have a relative that works for the Post Office and he says he hears stuff like this all day long. They think that they won't have to work after the election. They don't mince words. They actually say they won't have to work.

That's a good point: People who aren't used to public speaking (like most of us) something say thing even out of context with their own perspective. They express a partial thought, assuming that the listener(s) will understand the rest is assumed.
