Looking for some thoughts on the carriage rides offered for $45 at Port Orleans. Worth it? Fun? Do u have to book it in advance?

I took the carriage ride a few weeks ago. It's ok, horse plodded kinda slow so it was a little jerky. Carriage goes along river down to POFQ pool area then turns around and comes back to POR. I booked a day or two before.

We did it on our engagement trip and LOVED it! We actually are thinking about doing it again for our wedding/honeymoon trip in December. It's very relaxing and neat to go along side the river.

We did it on our honeymoon in December, and also loved it!! They give you blankets, since it can be a little chilly at night. But we just snuggled up together and enjoyed the ambiance and moonlight. Wonderful and very romantic for a couple.

On the other hand, I haven't experienced it as a group, but as we were waiting for the carriage ride, we saw a group come back from theirs, and they were laughing and joking and having a great time with the driver. So I think it's safe to say that you can have a fun time too as a group, not just a couple!

My fiancee and I did the carriage ride a couple of years ago. It was a nice and relaxing way to end the first day after all the traveling. We had the last ride of the night and was able to talk to our driver and pet and give our horse a snack. Well worth it, IMO.

Also, you are allowed to bring drinks with you, so make sure you stop off at the River Roost for a couple of cocktails or some wine for the ride. :thumbsup2

I did it one year with my mom and she loved it; and she does not like horses at all.

Last year, I took two couples and the one couple's two children. The one couple with the children was getting married this summer and had never really done a formal "getting engaged" thing.

The other couple and myself split the cost of the ride, babysat the two kids at the pool and surprised them with the carriage ride to do it properly!

They did and it was a very memorable evening.

At their wedding this summer, which I got to go to, they had a bunch of pictures near the gift table and one of them was the pic from the carriage ride. It brought back wonderful memories of one of my favorite trips to Disney ever.

We did it in Feb with our 2 boys. It was very nice.
We just walked up and she told us what times were available that night.

When it was time for our ride, she asked us where we were staying. We told her riverside, so I guess that is why we went all around Riverside. We didn't go down by the river to the french quarter.
